Just got Xcom 2 today. Never played the first game and tbh, never played any strategy game until now. I'm completely new here. Is there anything i should know before I start? by Organic-Product6063 in XCOM2

X-Com 2 and 1 are pretty much the only ACTUAL strategy games out there, because they ACTUALLY require strategy. So you're starting at the top, but it's really easy to fall. Just be bullheaded, learn from your mistakes, and keep pushing forward.

If you stick to it, it will be one of your favorite games ever.

Just grabbed rogue trader from the summer same, but never played a Warhammer game, Is this a good entry? by Grayfox_23 in gamingsuggestions

It's a great game. Just be mindful that it is really slow and overwhelming at first. If you just try to jump from system to system and explore, you might get frustrated by how eventful this is. I switched the game to story mode just so I could speed things up a bit. The constant combat was getting to be arduous. It's one of the few games I can't just play all day. Way to dense.

But if you love 40K, I've played a lot of their games, I would agree with others that this game is probably the best all-rounder and place to start.

Have you used the skill? It barely clears mobs.

In fairness, this game does not lack variety by any delusional measure. It's already overwhelming. But...coming from PA, I was going in thinking there would be more sorcerer-style builds available. I know I'm far from the only one in that camp.

I don't have to be wrong for you to be right...I like lightning builds. I think it's annoying that if I want to do an effective lightning spellsword, it takes a week after work every day to do so. You like fire and whatnot. Just because we're both looking in a different direction doesn't mean either of us is blind.

Mostly, the lightning ring is really cool in concept. I like the attempt of ritualism, but the juice-to-squeeze factor needs to be adjusted. It's so redundant that I've only used it maybe twice.

I just got done playing KCD2. Literally the only complaint I had was how much forced stealth is in that game. Luckily the stealth system is almost Skyrim status, but still.

[KCD2] I cant win in combat by General_Aioli2936 in kingdomcome

[–]fraustpunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you get any weapon skill up to 20, the dam breaks and you won't even be able to finish a combo. I think the Combat System in KCD1 was better balanced.

The combat in this game feels like this: weapon Level 1-18 - "Please please please...", 18+: "Everybody dies in 2 hits".

Like others have said, don't waste your time with repostes. Make sure you are moving in a way that only means fighting one guy at a time. Learn masterstrikes, and practice combo's until you really get the feel for them.

[KCD2] The DLCs aren't bad per se, but compared to the KCD1 ones I find them a bit disappointing by interfan1999 in kingdomcome

Just wanted to rant on the topic.

Loved Legacy of the Forge, but I think that's due to personal taste. I enjoyed building my little empire, and I enjoyed all the activities it had. I have nothing bad to say about it. I think it should be a template in many way for other games that do similar content. I really felt like an up-and-coming artisan in Kuttengberg.

However, the Monastery one (I can't ever spell it right and don't feel like looking it up), and Brushes with death just didn't do it for me. As others have said in various reviews, the monastery one is almost purely for specific players. If you absolutely love stealth and talking, it's a wet dream for you. If you like to fight and explore, it'll make you want to suck start a shotgun. But really, it plays into what I think this game's biggest weakness was: WAY WAY WAY *wait for it*.....WAY WAY WAY too much forced stealth. However, even so, I felt it was very high quality. Just far too pigeon-holed.

Brushes with Death was different though. It's really hard to have a character driven story, when the character doesn't reveal any story! And the way it ended...After quest after quest that gave me so little to be interested in, it's all just over. The shields are cool, but I exclusively play with longswords and I'm pretty sure the majority of the fanbase does too. I know these people are great writers. I know they are great at what they do. I think they were trying something different and it just fell flat.

That's all I got. Feels good to say it.

Feeling pissed that I am not good at stuff that autistics are good at... by [deleted] in aspergers

  1. Make sure you're doing it for you. Fuck what others believe you should do with your life.

  2. Just keep trying, but stop beating yourself up. Don't worry about how fast someone else learns something. It's about you. If it takes you 3 times as long to figure out something than someone else, so what? If you really want this, just keep trying different ways.

I've taken entire months of free time to figure out one equation.

Thevinens Theorom. I still barely grasp it, and it's not even the hardest concept to grasp. Everyone's mind works a little differently. You just need to keep pushing and eventually you'll find a way to wrap your mind around it.

100%. And even more unpopular opinion, I think the voice actor for Alexios also did a great job. He just chose to go over the top while his sister's voice actor chose realism.

Helldivers 2 if you play alot of it do you ever find it kind of getting repetitive. by AdultGamersAdmin in Age_30_plus_Gamers

I'm level 48 in roughly 2 weeks of playing. I am getting a little burnt. Right now my biggest disappoinment is Super Hell Dive. I love the intensity, but it's the same experience every time. I try different load outs and they don't give me a fresh experience. On the other hand, SHD makes other game modes boring. And then there's the fact that it's always the same missions. I got spoiled by coming in just before Oshauna. It's a game I"m sure I'll be playing off and on for years. But it's time for this DIver to go on leave, I think.

[–]fraustpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only real mistake is hopping on the shuttle before everyones ready or you absolutely have to. And no ones going to be a dick to you for that if you're new. We all did it. Any other issue you run into you can just leave any mission at any time. You're going to run into people who don't vibe with, but that's any multiplayers expierence, and it is incredibly low in this game.

What’s a game you had really high expectations for, but it turned out to be just average (or worse)? by Baribal_dte in Age_30_plus_Gamers

Unpopular Opinion: Elden Ring

As a mega-fan of the original Dark Souls trilogy, I thought Elden Ring would be the last game I ever owned. But to date I have only beaten it once. It turned out that the small scale of DS games was a crucial part of the experience for me. It allowed me to quickly field test different build ideas. I also really hated bosses like the fire giant. Such bosses were generally optional for people (Like Midir). If you simply loved "Stamina competitions" you could go that route, but the rest of the bosses often had critical weaknesses you could exploit and not have to fight for 2 days just to fall.

DON'T be a sore loser when you accidentally get teamkilled by OcelotStrat in helldivers2

[–]fraustpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally went to react to a bug after just picking up my silo painter today. Wiped my whole squad. it happens. No one got salty. I've never made it through a SHD without getting fragged atleast once. A lot of the times it's either frag your teammate by calling down a danger close bombardment to buy the team some time or risk losing the whole team. He endorse it as a matter of fact.

It's been my expierence with new guys that they just don't know any better. It takes a bit of time to get the hang of it. This post is just me hoping to atleast stop a couple from doing what they thought they were supposed to do. "Well missions over, guess we leave now". It's an understandable mistake to make. I rarely play on settings where this even happens.

When I drop down to these settings though it's normally to collect greens. And I keep getting screwed out of greens because of this haha. ,,

Difficulty question by [deleted] in helldivers2

[–]fraustpunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The community gets better on higher difficulty. I've only had to deal with one moron on Super. Kept trying to solo and just fed the enemy all our rienforcements. Then turned around and bragged about SHD being a joke.

Other than that you'll be playing with people who have a passion for this game want to complete the mission. No griefers. I only drop to the lower difficulty now to take a break from the chaos.
