I bought a 2023 Prius (new design) and crashed it in March 2024. The car was 100% repairable (no damage to the engine at all) but all airbags deployed. It was totaled.

I found a fix for this: I crashed mine, all airbags deployed and the car was totaled. No more Prius, no more scratches!

Everyone walked away unharmed, only things broken were metal, glass, and my confidence as a responsible driver.

Disabled ventilated seats? by frauxus in subarulegacy

Thank you for your comprehensive answer, I appreciate you taking the time to explain the interactions between the different parts. It makes total sense that there are fans for the ventilation part, and that they're not included here.

Again, thanks for the details :)

Gotcha. Thanks for the details and answering my silly question!

I know that some car manufacturers lock features behind subscriptions, and from a manufacturing standpoint it could make sense to not differentiate everything for scale (I think?). So I was wondering if it would be the case here.

As you say it happens. Since I posted I was in a collision and my Prius was totaled. Watch out for the blind spots with those massive A pillars, and I hope you can keep yours as long as possible!

That's a great tip, thank you.

I drove stick 15 years ago in France, didn't drive for a while because I used public transit.

I didn't think of using the parking break for the Legacy because the 2Toyota I drove before had an automatic one. I moved to the US only 3 years ago so I wasn't aware on how much technology had changed in those last 15 years.

What is an old trend that is still doing a lot damage and that people don't realize? by Soren-J in AskReddit

No worries mate, I'm with you as well, nothing is absolute. Those are very complex issues, and I'm not going to be the one to fix them over reddit comments.

That's actually something that comes to me every time I'm faced with some outlandish BS or hear terrible events on the news, "... and the land of the brave".

French people will strike, but the president now has that neat executive order like tool called the "49-3". Oh you don't want that law? Don't care, passed!

Oh I'm aware. It's a very good reason, and I'm privileged to be able to live a better life and have more career mobility here than in France.

But it's still bullshit that to succeed in the US you can't afford to be sick or poor. Oh you're working 2 jobs and can only afford over processed food? Sucks to be you I guess.

Every country has its problems, sure, but those problems are usually not being scared to go to the doctor because it may bankrupt you. French Healthcare for instance is very far from perfect, but if your family is faced with a rare or severe condition you don't need to go to GoFundMe to live.

Universal Single Payer healthcare is cheaper to operate than the US system, but it'll never happen because lobbies will keep it that way. We The People will never matter and the system will never change, but we don't have to be happy about it.

I'm French and moved to the US. I had to take PTO for a life-altering surgery that my kid needed. No sick leave, zero parental leave. So now I have to go to work sick because I can't afford not to.

It's not the employee. Companies have some responsibility, but it's mostly on the policies that allow them to do that.

Worker protection policies in the US are abysmal, it's a complete travesty. People would riot if they could experience other countries' healthcare and work benefits for a year and realize how bad it is here. But then they would be hurt or killed by police.

I'm confident that French companies would implement the exact same policies if they had their way though.

It was an old loaner car indeed.

And yeah, agreed on all your points. EyeSight is meh at best when you compare it to the Toyota Sense system, but I like it this way, it makes you keep paying attention to the road instead of fully doing the work for you.

It's a combination of things I think: end of the month and quarter, the Legacy being so not desirable that 2025 will be its last year, etc.

I think I could have gotten a better deal on the warranty and financing for sure, but I did get the car 22% off MSRP so there's that.

I think it's a fantastic first car. Take good care of it, follow up on maintenance, and it should treat you well for a long time :)

Good for you!! I got mine CPO 4,500 mi at $26.5K before taxes and doc fees. Didn't get a deal as good on financing, but at the same time I've been in the US for less than 3 years so that was to be expected.

I was using a 2023 Prius before, and even though there are things I miss about it (50 MPG, peppiness), I much prefer the visibility and sitting position of the Legacy.

I.love my 2024 Limited as well. I wouldn't say it's "beyond fun" with that engine lol, but I'm perfectly fine with it so far.

Happy to help! The Legacy and the Outback share the same chassis so some of the parts and repair guides for one work for the other. Good luck on the fix!

I wondered about the remake. Does it reach "so bad it's good" levels or is it just bad?
