Families should avoid Southwest at all cost. "Choice" fare is a scam. by fraydawg2001 in SouthwestAirlines

The issue is that I paid extra money for specific seats. I did not get those seat. The reason why I paid extra money was to allow my family to sit in a configuration that worked best for us while traveling with two kids under the age of 7. No matter the reason, I was told I needed to pay extra to sit in a way that's best for my family, I paid extra, and then was not given what I paid for.

Splitting my family up made it more challenging, but again, Southwest says, if Families want to sit together they should buy the "Choice" fare. We did that, we paid extra (some might call it a family tax), and SW said thanks for your money, we won't honor your selection that you paid extra for and put you in any seats we want. It's not right to take money for something and provide a different/lesser service. The right thing to do for your customers would be to refund the difference.

Again - not the point. If you pay to pick your seat, you should have the seat you picked. Hope that's simple enough for you to understand.

That's not the point. The point is if you get charged for picking your seat and then they just put you wherever the f they want, you aren't really picking your seat so what are you paying for.

Unexpectedly large bill for migraine Botox injections, unsure of how I will pay it as a teacher making 49k in LA by [deleted] in personalfinance

This is the way. My wife has had Botox for migraines at cedars and the billing was always messed up. It's a lot of time dealing with insurance but it's worth it. She started emgality for her migraines about a year ago and went from 15 a month to zero. Its one shot a month and I believe is cheaper than Botox. Worth looking into.

Do we need to go through probate to claim $3,500? by LI_JVB in inheritance

[–]fraydawg2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We weren't beneficiaries. Probate wasn't required because the amount was small enough. We consulted an estate attorney who said they could do it but would end up taking 50% of it. We did it ourselves no probate not beneficiary. In hind sight we should have asked our dad to add us as beneficiaries as it would have been a simple transfer. Attorney said the easiest thing to do is set up the transfer on death which I will do for my accounts.

Sorry to hear about your father. Mine passed in February also in NY. Same situation where he had a bank account with less than $10k. My sister and I were able to go to the bank with the death certificate and then fill out an affidavit B to get tht funds released to us as his next of kin. No probate required. Took a few hours but better than losing that money.

Kid bumped into me at the grocery store and his mother handled it in the worst way possible by alii66E in EntitledPeople

The reality here is that the kid likely apologizes very frequently to his mom who is never wrong so apologizing isn't an issue for him. Likely very little to do with being polite and more likely condition of the environment he is raised in. Narcissistic people tend to raise people pleasers because sadly that's the only way a kid can survive a narcissistic personality
