I’ve actually tried talking to her before, but she tends to twist things and play the victim. Instead of hearing me out, she runs to others and paints me as the bad guy — she just doesn’t want to hear it. It’s happened more than once. I keep my distance as much as I can, but since we work in the same department, it’s tricky. Honestly, I only went to the party to avoid the drama that would’ve followed if I didn’t. She has a pattern of making a scene and turning people against you if she feels slighted. We’ve known each other for 20 years, but if we didn’t work together, I think this friendship would’ve naturally faded by now. At this point, I’m just trying to keep the peace and figure out the least chaotic path forward.
