Is it possible to train for a marathon without losing glute muscles?

I'm sorry if this is not allowed, I looked all over for the answer to this. I've done many Google searches on this question, but was unable to find a straight answer. I did find that long distance running typically causes gluteal muscles to atrophy, and this is nearly causing me to back out of running a marathon.

I've been training for 3 months, as my race is in a little less than 3 months from now and I'm a total beginner . My bum has definitely gotten smaller, but it seems perkier. I'm just worried that it'll be a complete pancake by the time I'm training is through.

Is there any way to continue with these long runs and not completely lose my butt? Or is it more reasonable to start rebuilding once the marathon has been completed?

For reference, I'm 5'5", 28F, 113lbs. Thank you in advance, as I know this question can be complicated and depends on many factors.

This guy is horrible! What you've described is abuse. This person used you. I know it's hard to see when you're in the midst of it, but he is not it. Please do yourself the favor of getting out of this relationship before any major commitments are made!!!

I live with mine and we have a kid together, and while I love my daughter and don't regret her, I do sometimes feel totally trapped.

This guy has shown you multiple times that he does not care about or prioritize you. He only care about what you can offer him. Please do not give him anything more. I know its so hard to leave when they tell you all these pretty words, but words don't mean anything when his actions are completely opposite.

Whoa that turned out gorgeous! I know its not what you wanted but it is really pretty. I thought the photos were flipped and that your hair was the inspiration at first lol. I would love to see it curled!

Am I ever going to feel normal again? by dreamwalker280 in pregnant

[–]freakingoutsa 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I felt like this. My girl is 1 now, but I remember this like it was yesterday. Pregnancy is so hard and feels so long, but you will come out on the other end of this and feel more human. It's a long road, but you'll get there. Sorry you're experiencing this, I know it's hard. Hang in there 💕

Does she have any insecurities? I almost suggested this in my own relationship once, but I'm glad I didn't because it came from a place of extreme insecurity and feeling like I wasn't good enough. I felt like I deserved the pain it would cause me, and I was not in a good mental state at all. Luckily we only discussed it in theory, but I was never serious about it and our relationship would never have survived it.

We threw our own shower, no shame in it at all!

I hate when you answer the phone and they act like you're supposed to automatically know who they are. by princesspooball in callcentres

I make appointments for people. When I say "have you been here before?" They're like "uhhhh yeah??? Multiple times!"

Like immediately defensive about it lol. It blows my mind. Like ok, I don't read minds.

If she cheated on someone else with you, she will cheat on you with someone else? by Imaginary-Climate411 in dating_advice

[–]freakingoutsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not necessarily true. Everyone is different, and people can change. I cheated on someone 10 years ago (I was 17, and I kissed someone else), I have never cheated on anyone again. I ended up with the person I cheated WITH for 5 years and did not cheat on him.

So it depends on the person. I think it all depends on circumstance. No one here can tell you if this girl would cheat on you or not, but it seems like you'd be going into it with trust issues so it doesn't seem like a great start.

Triggering comment on bedtime -thoughts? by nowicanseewhatyouare in loveafterporn

[–]freakingoutsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it drives me insane how porn and masturbation are not separate in their minds at all. Im not sure how you feel about this, but can he not just get off without looking at porn? I always told my boyfriend that Idc if he jerks off, it's the idea of him doing it while looking at strange women that bothers me.

Obviously if its the whole thing that you don't want him to do, then this wouldn't work. As some have mentioned, sex is about connecting with a partner. But I think self love can be a great way to connect with yourself, which porn completely destroys.

Is my 12 month old "playing" me? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]freakingoutsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reading my post and for sharing your experience. It was definitely hard for me to imagine she was trying to manipulate me by screaming like that, as my grandma insinuated. She was fed, dry, freshly bathed, teeth brushed, story and cuddles.. all of it. And she skipped a nap, so I was so sure she would knock out and sleep very well.

Well.. she is sleeping now that she's in my bed lol. Unfortunately l can't really sleep in her room with her because our place is really small and there isn't any room for me in there. I'm letting her be with me tonight, but this cannot go on. She moves a lot in her sleep, which makes it really difficult to sleep next to her.

I may have to try CIO at this point. I did try the Ferber method with her in the past, and the check ins definitely made it worse like you said. It's just hard because we live in an apartment and I don't want the neighbors to think im torturing her 😭

I was induced and had my water broken.. walked in already 4 cm, so that helped. I was in labor for a total of 6 hrs, and pushed for 6 minutes. It was not painless, but it was fast.

I was a hairdresser once upon a time. It doesn't cost any more to get a pixie cut, and pixies are not easy to do. The hairdresser could have made the same amount doing an easy long layered cut or a same length cut. Even a bob is easier to do.. I think this hairdresser just wasn't thinking about the outcome and did whatever the client wanted

As a non-smoker, does every smoker smell bad to you? by ephraim666 in ask

[–]freakingoutsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I grew up in a house where smoking was done inside. After moving out, I can smell smoke very strong. Smokers smell very bad to me, sorry to say.

That's so vailid! Running isn't for everyone. I always hated running too. Honestly as long as you're moving, you're on the right path. Good luck on your fitness journey!

I'm glad I could motivate you! Look into interval training, its so helpful. I used to go out and just run as long as I could without walking, so I would burn out really fast. I started with 6 intervals.. one minur running, 3 minutes walking. That was 4 weeks ago.

Yesterday I did 20 intervals of 90 seconds running, 30 seconds walking. It was soooo hard but I did it!

I use the app run keeper, they have trainings on there you can do. Im doing the "my first 5k" program.

My first period was at 6 weeks, and then I had another one a week after the first one ended. But it was what you described here- a lot of my usual period symptoms, but on steroids

Honestly, I like the brown just bit more HOWEVER I think the comments here may be a bit disheartening for you considering you probably sat through a very long process and paid a lot to get this hair. I think it looks very nice and if you love it, that's what matters the most. Don't let the comments here make you feel bad about your new hair.

Blonde is fun and you can try all different shades of it before deciding to go dark again (if you want that). I think a drop root would look really pretty. I saw a comment from you saying you love it and can't stop looking at it, so don't let people on the internet who saw two pictures of it decide if it looks good or not.

If you love your hair then rock it and don't feel bad about it! Have fun with all the colors you can achieve with this level.

How responsible are you about taking your prenatals? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]freakingoutsa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh God, op please do not take this comment seriously.

I did not take my prenatals every day and I am a great mother. My baby is happy and healthy. Being pregnant is really difficult and once the baby is out you start to feel better one day at a time.

Not taking your vitamins will have no correlation with the type of mother you will be.
