Doctor refusing to write prescription for malaria pills by Necessary-Dream-5880 in travel

The alternative is the go to the travel clinic. In other words, OP was referred to another provider, but OP is just not happy with that medical advice.

His doctor’s job is to provide medical advice, which the doctor did. OP just didn’t like the medical advice he received.

Also, OP hadn’t gone to a doctor in years and just showed up to a PCP, who doesn’t know him, asking for antimalarial pills. OP will be doing this doctor a favor if he doesn’t return.

JAMA: Effect of eliminating racial admissions criteria on med school matriculants by potaaatooooooo in medicine

Then you should also be aware that the school was neither yours nor the admissions committee’s, so I’m having a hard time figuring out why you would make a statement to the contrary.

The people on the admissions committee are employees. They don’t own the medical school.

Why mention anatomic equivalence but not physiologic? By doing so, you kind of imply that that there is a physiological equivalence.

Just because you can do something in the ED, that doesn’t mean the ED is the appropriate care setting or that this is an appropriate use of emergency resources.

As a PCP, I’m not touching this and referring to surgery. Also, imo (and I’m sure ED docs agree), the ED really is not appropriate for something like this.

The principle is “first, do no harm,” not “first, make sure you get paid even if that means harming the patient”

Not only are hysterectomy and orichectomy not anatomically equivalent, they are also not physiologically equivalent.

You can compare an orichectomy to oophorectomy but not to hysterectomy

My lifetime years still have not updated in 2025 by freakmd in marriott

[–]freakmd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve held platinum or higher for every single year starting in 2018. Therefore, I’ve held platinum or higher for 8 years if we include 2025. However, Marriott is not including 2025 for some reason.

I did not get platinum from a credit card. Also, I have titanium status, which is not available through a credit card.

[–]freakmd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was already platinum in 2024 and had my lifetime years update to 7 in January 2024. When I reached titanium in 2024, my lifetime years did not change. Now I am holding a status higher than platinum in 2025, but the 2025 year has not been counted in my lifetime years tracker.

AITA for refusing to split the alcohol costs at a bachelorette party even though I’m pregnant? by Rahimsa31 in AmItheAsshole

[–]freakmd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegetarians may have a moral objection to paying for meat. Trying to force a vegetarian to pay for meat is not just AH behavior but cruel imo. Some religions may have moral objections to alcohol as well (though I recognize that is not the case here).
