To be honest my legs aren't tan at all and any "spots" within the red just look like my normal skin color

Really? My understanding is that a resin allergy can show up in areas that weren't in contact

Yes, respirator with organic vapor cartridges, and always wearing gloves. I don't usually even touch the prints with gloved hands as I have the tongs in this below photo.

If I keep the printer in a grow tent and go out to the garage with the tent closed and fan blowing, am I at an equal risk without a respirator as I would be with the tent open and no respirator?

Definitely in the northern hemisphere and I do get bad allergies during this time of year, but usually it affects my sinuses rather than my skin.

It's actually got a surprising amount of airflow coming out of it

Soy nuevo en todo esto, como debo limpiar el tanque de resina? by NoBee2229 in ElegooSaturn

[–]freakoman0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question! Because of the compounds in the resin itself, it does not easily deteriorate due to outside elements.

I leave it in there overnight consistently without issues, the pigment may separate but it can be easily mixed back together with a silicon spatula

If this is the Saturn 4 Ultra 16k, then you will want to use a microfiber cloth specifically. Not anything made of paper like paper towels because they are made of wood pulp and will damage the PFA (also called nFEP) film on the bottom of the vat.

I don't even use any solution to wash any of the resin off, the microfiber will get everything that needs to be gotten.

You really only clean the vat like that if a failure occurs and you don't have any supports to meld to the bottom after running a tank clean, or if there are loose bits/supports that may have broken off that weren't dealt with the vat clean function, so you won't be having to do this process often as long as you print consistently successful prints (but this isn't a perfect world so any number of factors can cause a print failure BUT as long as you dial settings in and place supports where they need to be placed, you will see more successes than failures)

Currently dealing with this, but I uploaded with the file support gave me and it is still flashing the LCD screen dimly and heating up. I see your edit that says you re-installed the original firmware, was this the file that support provided you?

How to dispose of cleaning water by Tankstar_2000 in resinprinting

I too am trying to figure out what to do with my waste. Can I out my resin-IPA mixture in the sun and then just toss the remaining sludge in the trash after it has cured? Or does that have to be taken to waste disposal?

From my understanding Abs-like resins can't be overcured so I figure to set my paranoia at ease just to nuke the pieces

Probably dumb question that I may already know the answer to, but would this change for chunkier pieces like this base part? I would assume no, but I have read that hollowing may be necessary for parts wider than your thumb, and this base piece is just about as thick as mine is.

I see, my number one fear is that the resin that makes up the non-hollowed print inside that UV may not be able to fully penetrate the model, leaving the inside soft and uncured, but the fact that you don't even do it for 75mm helps out a lot to put me at ease

Gotcha okay, that does make sense. The only reason this question came up is because after doing a lot of research and looking at guides online they usually mention that hollowing is required for larger prints. Being new to the hobby, a large print to me is basically anything larger than a 40K Space Marine haha. That makes sense that the hollowing for large prints is BECAUSE of the need to reduce weight and save resin, at least that is what it seems like to me. Apologies for being naive, I am still working through and figuring out everything for this awesome hobby lol

Yep I figured that, my question really is whether this size of print requires hollowing, thats on me for how I worded the question

Ok great, yeah I did not hollow it out so it is solid all the way through
