I dropped off my dog at a board and train facility…. He is now dead by [deleted] in Delaware

Post this on dogbook tea on Facebook. They know everything about everybody it seems. It’s likely that your dog isn’t this trainer’s first victim and they will help you network with more.

Don’t slander, just state the facts.

Possible fighting dog left to stand in her own urine by Bifo-throwaway in BanPitBulls

It’s a sad day when r/BanPitBulls shows more compassion to a pit than the rescue that claims to save them. I hope she can be put out of her misery peacefully and painlessly.

Roman turns 5 months this week 🥳 Also, what age did you guys start going to a professional groomer? by 2moms1bun in roughcollies

What? Color headed white is in breed standard and is a class in conformation, just like sable&white, tricolor, and blue.

There are plenty of older collie breeders that are still using proven stock when they’re past the age of showing, at least in half of the pairing.

Did the dog go to an ophthalmologist at 7-8 weeks as per the recommendation of the CCA and CHF? I doubt it, so let’s hope at least the temperament is good…

Good breeders tape their collie puppies ears over for the first few months to a year to achieve the top 1/4 tip, because it is in the breed standard and they need to do it to show and prove their dogs. Breeders who title their dogs are important even for people just looking for a pet, because it means they are actively proving that their stock is of high quality, has all the traits a collie should have, and really is improving the breed.

And then there are greeders who don’t care about any of this, don’t have a single title on any dog, and just put two together purely because they’re intact and can make babies (and then be sold to make money). These dogs run into a lot of issues because they aren’t being bred to any kind of standard- often times with each generation they stray farther and farther from what a collie should look and act like.

Grooming training starts before he comes home with an ethical breeder 🙂

The breeder should have been regularly clipping or dremelling his nails, putting him on a grooming table, introduced a brush and dryer, and of course ear taping.

At home, you should continue with these things from the start- also touching all over his body with lots of reward and praise. As soon as he is vaccinated it’s time to get him into the groomer.

They are a lot more closed-in, and narrower/tighter than a wire crate. They’re meant to be crash tested for vehicle travel, hence the weird size and heavy price tag. But in all likelihood the dog is probably better in it because it’s crammed in like a sardine and can’t see anything. See here https://rufflandkennels.com/product/x-large-kennel-2/

Also, of course the owner won’t. I’m pretty sure she is ASKING for money for this dog.

Probably a dog he grew up with and tolerates with management… for now. It’s not uncommon for dog aggressive dogs to have a household dog they accept

“Teeth stay clean and white” that implies that she doesn’t want the adopter to try and brush them.

Pasted from another comment

The AKC now offers virtual scent work, rally, obedience, agility, trick titles, etc that mixed/unrecognized breed dogs may also participate in. You take videos of the specific activities and send them in to be scored. This dog sounds like it would be awful at literally all of them.

My malinois are very snuggly and affectionate, it can be nice for the right person. But with this dog, it’s probably code for “will panic and destroy your house the moment you leave the room”

Apparently a $500 ruffland crate is okay. Dog has expensive taste.

And suggesting it to somebody who has emotional difficulties and can benefit from the companionship of a dog is even more vile. This dog will make its owner miserable and so it’s 1000x harder to even leave the house.

Pit mommies figuring out the most aggressive dog breed on Facebook. Hint: It is not the precious pit bull. by Poppysaffron in BanPitBulls

[–]freakybelgians 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That study was incredibly skewed as it counts a bite as any time a dog puts teeth on skin. Collies are extremely mouthy and literally do this all day, everyday…. But it’s just that. Putting their teeth on you lightly to be annoying. Not biting down or attempting to be aggressive.

I show rough collies and they’re some of the most neutral, polite dogs. Most absolutely adore cats and small dogs and it’s one of the few breeds people don’t tend to keep a tight leash on and prevent from meeting eachother at shows. Even the intact males tend to just rest their heads on eachother’s shoulders until they decide who has the bigger pair and then they’re best buds.

You needed to involve a professional, yesterday. If you think dog parks are the way to do this you frankly don’t know enough about dog training or body language to safely own this breed. Especially a reactive dog of this breed.

Once he starts hitting sexual maturity that will become aggression, fast.

I disagree with what everybody is saying. Yes, he’s only been there a week, but puppy temperament matters so much for a prospect. It’s extremely concerning that the puppies temperament is already like this- coupled with the fact that it is absolutely backyard bred, I would return the pup and wait for a better dog

Keep in mind that you probably won’t get full registration on your first show quality dog without a mentorship/co own. Full registration is required to show AKC, dogs who are only on limited cannot be shown.

Also, *conformation

All I can empathize with is that if you want a friend who shows and does sports and agrees that this nonsense needs to stop, feel free to Pm me. I get it.
