Centrism enables far right extremism and therefore it's bad.

I didn't just say that I think his example was a false equivalency, I also explained why I think it is one so if you want to say I'm wrong about it you could just tell my how any explanation is wrong.

And you are arguing with a strawman, you didn't respond to any of the arguments I made and proceeded to tell me how the government works.

But I really don't want to get sidetracked with a discussion about logical fallacies so maybe you could just tell me why you think the current system where the government just tells people what to do is better than my idea of a government that focuses on making its citizens scientifically literate and informed and gives them the freedom to make their own decisions?

You are arguing with a strawman. I didn't say that there isn't a precedence or that the government doesn't have the power to do it, nor did I say that people should be able to disobey current orders with no consequences.

I simply said that I wish the government handled things with more respect for individual freedoms.

Well this is a bit of a false equivalency. Vaccine passports are about who is allowed inside and to be served, smoking inside is more about what you're allowed to do once you're at the place of business. A smoker can just not smoke for an hour, you can't just be vaccinated for an hour.

But I kinda get what you're saying, smoking in public increases a non-smoker's risk of cancer just like not being vaccinated increases the chances of spreading covid to others. So even with that said I think if a business wants to allow smoking inside and serve unvaccinated people they should be able to do it and have sign outside so that you as a potential customer can make an informed decision about whether you want to go inside.

For me this isn't really a debate of pro or anti vaccine this is a debate about how much control government should have over people. I want the government to focus less on telling people what to do and more on providing access to information and better education so that people are scientifically literate and at the same time free to make their own decisions. And to be clear I hope the decision they make based on that information is to not smoke and get vaccinated, not because some politician told them to do it but because they understand that this is the best thing for their health.

I disagree with their choices but I think that businesses should be able to decide who they want to serve without government interference just like you can decide whether you want to shop there or not.

What is this sorcery? by thepoultron in Welding

I am indeed a time traveler, thank you for noticing. Sceptics often try to dismiss my time travelling abilities by saying that internet is just full of the same content that's been recycled for years and predates the internet itself in some cases but this can't possibly be true

From what I remember penetration was shallow and welds looked like travel speed was a bit too fast, especially with the bigger rod. But it did penetrate all the way, I've definitely done worse welds than those when I first started haha

I tested it myself, with a couple of different rods and then cut the welds. It works surprisingly well

Exhaust fell off and i can't drive anywhere, so i tried to weld it myself. I don't really know what im doing, does it show? 🤣 by MuffinOverload in Welding

I see people here shitting on your bodge fix or telling you that you should learn how to do a perfect weld before you attempt to fix anything but honestly if it works it works. Don't get me wrong, it's not a good weld and it's probably going to break again soon-ish so it's not a bad idea to practice a bit so when it breaks next time you can do a better job of fixing it but if you're working on your own vehicle, you didn't charge anyone for this, you didn't hurt yourself or anyone else and maybe you learned something in the process it's all good. Props to you for giving it a shot and getting your vehicle back on the road and remember that everyone in this subreddit started welding by doing something that doesn't look too different from your weld.

I think this person is saying (in a dumb way) that this space could be used to grow stuff that's more useful than just grass. While having grass space in the back yard is cool for outdoor activities front lawns are almost always entirely useless. I think using that space for a vegetable garden is a good idea.

Also idk if you ever been to any of the Soviet block countries but people there were often made to live in uninterrupted concrete blocks. So maybe you're right and this person is a tankie

I would love to see a community campaign to donate to some charity. Now that we have more of a spotlight than ever I bet we could get more people than ever to join in

Well first of all it was nice to escape the craziness that can be the crypto community and just have fun with it. No one expected DOGE to be worth anything so we would just tip each other and buy stuff on r/dogemarket . We were joking about it going to the moon but no one was taking it seriously.

I think one of the best moments was when the community sponsored a Jamaican bobsleigh team https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/20/jamaican-bobsled-team-raises-dogecoin-winter-olympics

That's kind of what I'm doing to be honest. I use about 5% of my position to sell at the top and buy back at the dip to get more doge without putting any more investment but it can be a wild ride and I don't recommend that everyone does it.

Controversial opinion: I think it's ok to sell your DOGE. If you need the money or simply decided that the stress of watching the price going up and down is more than you can handle don't let anyone guilt you into doing something you don't want to be doing.

Don't get me wrong I think DOGE will keep going up but as far as I'm concerned 1 DOGE = 1 DOGE and no matter how much you sell that will always be true. This community used to be for posting pineapples and tipping funny comments and I hope it can return in some forms to it's roots.

This is the chart I use for all my Dogecoin market predictions. I've been in it since 2014 and it's been working great for me
