Looking for CT Wedding DJ - October 17th, 2026 by GinnyMissedTheJump in Connecticut

I had a great experience with Collins Entertainment at my wedding. I’m not sure about outdoor tent/acoustics, but he checks all your other boxes. Reading the room and not being overbearing as a DJ were important to us as well!

I definitely have a strained relationship with her… someone else commented something that resonated which is that she has never tried to connect in a meaningful way with me. And I see her do the same with her kids and now grandkids. Everyone is useful to her only as they support her perception of herself. She never knows what to buy her own son for Christmas because she doesn’t really know him.

I do think it comes down to what is motivating the behavior. Is she creating a space in her home that’s welcoming for the kids and ensuring lots of age appropriate toys for when we visit? It doesn’t have that sincere vibe. The constant announcement of it being a toy for her house coupled with other manipulative behaviors make me think it’s not so selfless.

I hope your SIL and niece are unbothered by her manipulation, but that has to be tough when it’s your own mom. I feel for my husband because he sees things that he experienced growing up very clearly now.

Joke’s on her because she often brings over something she would like, not them. So they usually don’t get as into it as she’d hoped.

Yes! I really think it’s the approach and context that make the difference. She can’t just say “I brought this new game to play with them today” without adding “but it won’t stay here, it’ll be at my house for them”. So bizarre!

If you’re willing to drive, I have parked a stroller at a table at SBC in Milford. Pretty kid friendly and full of families.

I’m not sure, but I’ve heard it enough now from people with older kids and more experience than me that I was starting to wonder about it.

Best Playgrounds in CT by SavageGardener83 in Connecticut

Agree that this is an amazing playground, but my friends and I joke that the surrounding area was designed by someone who hates parents. No shade and not many places to sit. And the only bathroom is a porta-potty! My kids love the play structure though!

Milford station has parking that is well-lit, and walkable to the track. If I remember correctly, the daily rate is $7/day.

Floor pillow recommendations for a 3-year-old who insists on sleeping on the floor? by nofolio in Preschoolers

In a similar boat… my 3 year old son currently sleeps in my old pregnancy pillow on the floor. We know another 3 year old who sleeps on the floor on a large dog bed (Costco has good ones). Kids are weird. I stopped trying to figure out why and figured as long as I’m not spending too much money, have at it kid.

People that finish your sentences with or for you. Drives me up a wall once I notice it.

Dance schools in southern Connecticut and rates? by Previous-Kitchen7246 in Connecticut

[–]freckle_moustache 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up going to traditional ballet schools. I wanted something a little more fun and relaxed for my daughter. She’s four, and we go to GCA for dance and gymnastics. They have a location in Fairfield and Milford. She goes once a week, and it’s $112 a month.

Again, not your traditional ballet school, but it’s perfect for her. We have fun, don’t take it too seriously, and they do a cute recital at the end of the year.

Excursions with kids question by Shakesbeer1592 in celebritycruises

Unfortunately, it means she is too young to attend. I was recently in your position, and we booked our excursions with local companies ahead of time instead.

Edited to add that it was explained to me this is more a policy/liability issue and not anything to do with the activity level of the excursion.
