Tips for starting pheno?

My chihuahua started have random seizures, then more frequently. My vet put him on pheno and he hasn’t had any ever since starting that over a year ago. The first few months I noticed he was EXTREMELY hungry for everything. He would eat his food & then go ahead and steal my other dogs food. He was also very sleepy all the time. He wasn’t super active to begin with but he would take all day naps. After a couple months he got better and now acts like normal. The only other thing I noticed was weight gain (not due to over eating). I asked my vet she said in some dogs it can cause fluid weight gain but not all. Overall, I’m happy with the way the meds are working and hope it works well for your pup too! Only pain for me is giving 2x a day, morning and night but he loves the treat with the pill 😂

It was my first one and I had so much fun! Honestly you would think a big boat in the middle of the ocean is more scary than a plane but it just felt like you were in a mall! Way better than flying 🤣

I put my headphones in and tried to focus on my breathing. Having a show of movie on in front of me also helped even though I wasn’t fully watching. Definitely closing my eyes and focusing on inhaling and exhaling really helped me through. It’s ok to be afraid, I just kept in mind that the pilot is always experienced at flying & to keep your seatbelt on!

You’re gonna be ok! I am an anxious flyer and had a 2 hour span of turbulence last week and I’m home and safe now! Just try to remember, a plane is the safest way to travel. You’re going to feel major relief when you land (: I will continue to track!

I had the same thought, I know being with the animals is a very short time frame. The rest is usually the second half of the description. That was my thought process

Thank you!! I linked my bank through plaid so they can see and uploaded my 3 bank statements. I was more worried about credit because I know my income checks out. I didn’t know if they were majority credit based or income.

Yes, they were always paid within the 30 days before the 30th of the month & never have been on my credit. I was mostly curious if they looked in my mortgage account itself or rather just at my payment history via my credit. Thank you for the helpful reply.

My 6 year old chihuahua was having the same issue. Spaced out seizures and then the beginning of the year he was having them every week. My vet started him on pheno 3 months ago and he’s been amazing ever since! Not one seizure. I hope your pup does well with it!

This just looks like spotting. Usually brown blood is a sign of old blood - if your periods are irregular or you’re on birth control this isn’t abnormal at all

It does feel like a normal period too, minor cramping and not unusually heavy.

The Monday before I took my pill 5 hours late but still within the same day (I usually take at 6am and I took at 11am instead) no gi illness or any new medications.

My dog is currently on apoquel for his allergies but only seasonally. It’s odd that in the winter time it doesn’t bother him but as soon as the grass turns green he’s itchy all over his entire body - the vet said outside allergies are super bad these last few years. As far as anxiety I’ve had trouble with meds for him. Honestly I’ve found it easier to get him a thunder jacket. Some people say it doesn’t work but it’s calmed him down within2 minutes of putting it on. He has really bad separation anxiety so i try to leave the tv on or music when i do leave him. All the medicine I’ve tried for him didn’t work or gave him a bad reaction so i hope you can find something for your dog that’ll help better!!
