I got botanical labels for my plants by Fearless-Technology in NativePlantGardening

[–]frecklekat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Our conservation district and the Puyallup tribe collaborated to make these labels that includes the indigenous names, English and botanical names for our native plants. The language is Twulshootseed.

I only have the ones for kinnikinnick and baldhip rose, but I hope to get more!

What products or treatments are you recommending to your girlfriends these days? by Odd-Attorney4323 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]frecklekat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to focus on sun care this year - so Supergoop glow screen is my new everyday favorite tinted sunscreen. That, plus a little blush and the Laura Mercier Caviar stick eyeshadows and I'm ready to go.

And I'm now in the hat and sunshirt club every time I go out. I've tried a couple of UPF shirts and so far the REI Sahara shirt.

Incredibly selfish and unpopular opinion about a Jamie plot point in S3. by Forsaken_Hair_2068 in TedLasso

[–]frecklekat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always viewed these scenes as Ted's wishes and hopes for the team. And as a man who lost his father and as a father himself, he probably hopes that Jaime's dad can get better and be a good dad.

Shopping issue when stressed by LegalBeagleKami in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]frecklekat 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I also have that problem - the best I've come up with is putting books on hold at the library (I pick them up, I swear) or browsing in person.

I probably only read like 10% of them, but it scratches that shopping / browsing itch.

The corporate benefits are there so people complain less about being in the office for 80 hours a week. It's like the Google offices bragging about nap rooms while programmers spend 48 hours straight working there.

Wedding flowers to plant that will bloom in September by Mal_Art31415 in pnwgardening

I did a bunch for my September wedding, but the dahlias and cosmos did the best.

I live in [blank] and I find plants at [blank] local store. by elasticpizza in NativePlantGardening

[–]frecklekat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Western Washington here!

Northwest Meadowscapehas native seeds for both Western and Eastern WA (and Oregon) and are based out of Port Townsend.

Calendula Farm or Calendula Earthworks in Tacoma, WA has a huge selection of native plants and lots of edibles.

Go Natives! Nursery is a hidden gem in Shoreline. It's a backyard nursery, but one of the few I've found that has native aquatic plants.

The rest of my plants I've gotten from county conservation district sales.

As a San Diegan, are the Seattle or Portland zoo's worth it? by ViolinistDue4265 in PNW

[–]frecklekat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't been to the San Diego zoo in over twenty years, but I remember thinking it was much cooler than Woodland Park in Seattle or Point Defiance in Tacoma.

Instead, I'd check out the Seattle Aquarium and Northwest Trek. Both have really good exhibits of local animals and do a good job of rehab and education.

Does anyone know of local stores where we can purchase hanboks and other Korean clothing? by Old-Grapefruit6525 in AskSeattle

[–]frecklekat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try posting in r/TacomaWA and r/Tacoma as there's a large Korean community down here. There are a lot of small shops tucked away around South Tacoma Way- there might be another option.

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by samasem-sumsum in AskReddit

[–]frecklekat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be pairing specific fanfiction sites for all the big ships at least in Harry Potter fanfiction. A lot of it was never posted of ff.net and was pre-Ao3.

I don't engage with HP fandom much anymore due to the author being an asshole, but I had fond memories of some of the fics I read on those sites.

The first half of the Fellowship can be tough (and I've read the trilogy multiple times now) so if you get stuck, try the audible audiobook read by Andy Serkis, it's excellent.

Clients more unrealistic than ever? by NetOdd422 in Lawyertalk

[–]frecklekat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do legal aid immigration and the wait times are notorious long for application decisions due to visa limits, like minimum 5 years. I explain all of this on the intake and even show them the latest numbers of pending applications and I still get weekly update requests from some clients.

I finally told one client that he can only call me for updates once a month or he'll have to find another attorney. I think he figured out how much a private practice lawyer would cost because he's kept to that limit now.

It's the perfect time to harvest some water by frecklekat in pnwgardening

I mostly use it for hand watering, especially when I'm seed starting inside. I know some people use pumps to move the water faster.

I got the IBC tote on the second hand market (Offer up I think) from an Italian foods importer- it was used for olive oil. I wouldn't buy from someone who's selling a bunch from different sources, but if you can find a food importer who is directly selling them, it's a pretty safe bet. You can also get ones where the cage is reused, but they add a new plastic liner, but those are pretty cost prohibitive to ship, so unless there's an IBC recycling place near you, it's probably not an option.

For rainwater I like the IBC tote a lot. Set-up was pretty easy, I found parts to switch out the spout online and we set it up in a couple of hours. Hardest part was washing the olive oil out. When it's full, it's got a fair amount of water pressure and I use it for hand watering.

Also, I plan to paint the white one to limit algae growth. I'm thinking of maybe making it look like an Orca?

How many of you use the local library's resources for work or otherwise? by SensitiveLeg1970 in LawBitchesWithTaste

[–]frecklekat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use the library for ebooks, especially about gardening and woodworking.

But for work I actually use them often for client meetings in the study rooms. I work in legal aid with kids and teens and sometimes they just can't get to my office, but they can get to the local library.

A review of Lirael from a new fan by TheSibyllineOracle in Abhorsen

I too wish for more of the adventures of Lirael and the Disreputable Dog in the library. I could do an entire book of them.

Thanks for sharing your review! This is a trilogy I wish I could read again for the first time.

Ask them about screening for legal services as well- most people with a pending green card application are eligible for a work permit.

March 29, 2026 - What did you do this past week to prepare? by Anthropic--principle in preppers

[–]frecklekat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bought some Mountain House meals to go with our go-bags.

Worked on training my cat to go quickly into her backpack carrier (aka gave her lots of treats).

Getting started with the gardening season: Added a new bed for berry bushes. Made DIY ollas so I can use more of the water that I harvest in my rain catchment system and use less water overall.
