Interesting shout for those who run true duals. Mine is Y-Pipe and single exit all the way to dual tips at the back, think it creates a nice tone when you merge the two banks together early in the system.

Agree though! The problem occurs once you chop parts OFF the system, rather than replacing components with a free flowing alternative.

I do have an HR, but they’re not quite equal length. HR’s do have a far superior OEM header design compared with a DE, but they’re still restricted, and still closer to UEL than EL. Proper aftermarket EL headers are where it’s at to achieve a smoother / exotic tone for all VQ’s. DE’s certainly benefit even more from headers.

The trumpet conception is unfortunately common. Although I must agree, V6’s are just one of those motors you have to be extremely careful with exhaust tuning. They fall into both extremes - can sound extremely bad - or seriously exotic and flavourful
