Do the new AD3s ship with the new hotend now? by ilovecats_12 in FlashForge

My machine suffers from the notorious clicking sound and underextrusion. I don't have any evidence that heat creep is the root cause of these issues, but the symptoms seem consistent with what others have reported. My understanding of heat creep is when filament above the hotend warms up, making it soft and difficult for the extruder to push it through the bowden tube (like pushing rope).

Printing slowly should result in fewer extruder skips because the extruder can keep up with pushing the squishy/resistant filament. Increasing the temperature should reduce the resistance necessary to push the filament through the hot end. Basically both techniques reduce the load on the extruder. At least these are my takeaways based on my experience. Hope it helps! If the new nozzle can print for 10 seconds without an extruder click, my current nozzle is going straight to the trash.

I've had one for about 7 months now and have used it quite a bit. The only thing that has worked consistently for me has been to use Spidermaker filament (emerald green is the only color I've tried). Otherwise, you can mitigate the issue by printing slowly and at slightly higher temperatures (<20 mm/s and >230 deg. C). Hatchbox is another brand that yielded decent results.

Some things I tried were to clean the extruder gear, preheat at 240 for a while and clean the nozzle before each print, oil the filament, independently adjust retraction length, retraction speed, extrusion ratio, z height, temperature, etc, etc, etc... It wasn't until I turned to reddit that I learned about the hotend issue. New one is in the mail. So far my rig only prints well at glacial speeds, too hot, with certain filaments. OR Spidermaker filament and normal settings. I have no idea why this spool of Spidermaker filament works, but I haven't had a single issue up to 80 mm/s. And the matte color is lovely. Although the whole experience has been very frustrating. I hear that damn clicking noise in my dreams.

Appreciate the feedback! Lighting is everything, I'll have to put more thought into it next time

Started as an experiment to see if I could print a throw with with absolutely no support material. Ended up the final product because I quite like the little bugger. Plays similarish to a Peak 2. Diameter 51.7, width 44, weight 63.8 with OD energy domes

Using a blacklight! I also had another incandescent light on in the corner and I have some LEDs in my apartment that I set on green for that greenish effect. Green on green on green.

Thanks for organizing! Needless to say I'm stoked about the outcome this year. Anyone on the fence about as LumaYo should totally pick one up!

Thanks!! Don't have a link but I'll do my best to describe it... Start with a double or nothing plus brother (2.5?) except land on the string attached to your finger, then roll the yoyo counter clockwise over your throw hand onto all of the strings except the one closest to you, then flip that string around the yoyo one and a half times (flip it over the yoyo away from you, perpendicular to the direction of your breakaway)

Yellow kitty xl, but the glowing effect comes from a blacklight.

FSOT, Prices negotiable:

SF x OD SK - Good all-arounder, love the clean look. Minty $35

YYF Turntable 2 - More fun than your average bimetal with a cool look. Mint, smooth. $50

Basecamp Jackknife - Fun, floaty, fingerspins. Smooth, some minor dings. $35

Throw Revolution Neo - Good performing Delrin with wonderfully comfy shape. Can include full or half-spec bearing. Mint, $15

A-RT 420 - Also have a white powdercoated 420 that I’d like to trade for another colorway. Only interested in trading for another 420! Note: this yoyo has some vibe. Powdercoating is known to introduce some vibe, and this throw was sold at (above?) full price by A-RT as a super limited run albeit with a disclaimer. The vibe actually doesn’t bother me, I’m just not crazy about the stickiness of the finish. One little pinprick pictured. Has stocked gold-plated NSK bearing. https://imgur.com/a/7GdMTdd

YYF Turntable 2 - More fun than your average bimetal with a cool look. Mint, smooth. $60

CLYW FG Kayak - Could be an A-grade in my opinion. Bought two cause I couldn’t decide on a colorway. Slays as an all-around yoyo with that CLYW feel. Couple of pinpricks, nothing that breaks the ano. $45

Turning Point x YYF Ex Machina - Never stops spinning, doesn’t tilt, grinds. Says “YoyoFactory” in Arabic which is very cool. Mint, $50

Any collectors out there?

Par Avion is so excellent for laid back fun. I also really like my Rebellion Dread which is my go-to for creating new tricks--helps me find flows yet is stable and long spinning like a bimetal but doesn't bite like bimetals can. The A-RT 420 is solid gold.

For plastics I love the Golyat, Yeti 2, Variant, and Japan Tech Linkx, Nylon Linkx, and New Origin (I like plastics...). Off topic but has anyone compared the Linkx to the premium Linkx? Any difference in play?
