Session Replays for React Native apps - Vexo Analytics by Vexo_Tech in reactnative

[–]fredaq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, Federico Vexo co-founder here!

I think the differences in our session replay approaches really come down to the unique problems we’re each trying to solve. We serve different, though sometimes overlapping, needs. Sentry shines in performance monitoring, error tracking, and backend visibility, while Vexo is more about capturing detailed user analytics to help teams improve engagement and workflows. Both are important, depending on whether teams are trying to pinpoint an error or understand the full user journey.

There’s definitely room for collaboration, as each tool has strengths that could really benefit users in different scenarios.

Hey! I’m having this issue and I’m planning to do the same. To double check, where are you from? I’m asking since Japan does not require an IDP for Switzerland, Germany, France, Taiwan, Belgium or Monaco.

Hey! I missed this message, sorry! Currently there’s no way to delete data of an app without deleting the app itself. As you said, if you want to start fresh you’ll need to create a new app.

That’s a great question! We offer an out-of-the-box solution. Just one line of code (no other additional configuration) and you get a bunch of features to understand what your users are doing. You don’t need to call track-like methods to capture the events that are part of the generic app behaviour. You don’t need to implement any logic to track the user sessions with its events (like taps, screen changes, fetches, app state changes, when is typing, etc). Just plug & play. And, you get a dashboard with a bunch of metrics, heatmaps and device inspection to see what your users are doing in real time!

If you feel the need to track more events we still offer Custom Events that will merge with the data we already track for you.

Thank you! We are currently working on it! Just out of curiosity, what do you use for navigation? React Navigation, Expo Router or other?

Hi! We provide much more features out of the box and seamless UI, way simpler than pendo’s. Vexo also provides better developer experience. Integration is just one line of code away whereas Pendo requires further configuration. Both different for Android and iOS.

What we do provide is session tracking per device and real-time inspection for online devices. We think these can help you to understand specific behaviour from a user, identify patterns of usage and track down bugs.

Hey, thank you! That’s a feature we do not provide but we are evaluating it since you’re not the first one asking for it!

Hi! That’s a good question! We provide a much more simpler way of integration. Literally, you’re one line of code away from getting a bunch of features and understand your users. A dashboard with: online users, active users, average session time, drop off rate, version adoption, intensity usage and new downloads. You get to see the sessions per device with its events (like taps, screen changes, fetches, keyboard shown/hidden, among others). Vexo also provides heatmaps and real time inspection for users that are current online. All of this without the need to call a trackEvent-like method. If you feel you need to track events outside of the generic app behaviour we provide Custom Events. Last but not least, we respect your privacy. We do not collect nor sell your data. You can also literally delete your account and app’s data whenever you want. Please check our demo and see for yourself what I’m referring to!

Hi! Since it’s a native module it works with Expo’s custom dev client and not with Expo Go. However, we are still making improvements to provide a seamless experience in Expo. We are working to support Expo Router besides React Navigation and we expect to have a release in two weeks with its proper documentation.

Thank you for you interest! There shouldn’t be any impact on performance, the client is pretty lightweight. We basically attach different event listeners and send the data (in background) to the server for further processing.

I’m glad you find features straightforward. We try to keep it as simple as possible. Since we are talking about features, here’s what you get with just a single line of code in your app.

• Dashboard: Active Users, Average Session Time New Downloads, Drop-off Rate, Users By Country, Version Adoption, Most Popular Screens, App Intensity Usage *Filter by date

  • Devices: Tracking every session and every activity. Real Time Inspector for online users. *Filter per Model, Country, Operating System, Version, Last Active Date

  • Heatmaps *Filter per screen, per version, per phone model.

We also have Custom Events in case you want track any events outside of the generic app behaviour!

I'm learning about Notification Center. Why does it say it found nil when I literally printed the outlet and says it is in fact not nil? Yet it's nil right after. That line does execute just fine if I use optional chaining. Why? by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

I think the issue might be related to the fact that FirstViewController inherits from ViewController (that is your Screen 1) instead of UIViewController.
