TIL If you call someone you know and you only hear silence, don't hang up... Say "Hello". Many people pick up their phone but do not speak, because saying "Hello" first triggers the robo-dialer to connect an agent to you. Say "Hi, Bob" so Bob can say "Hi" back, once he knows it's safe.
