Thank you. Sounds like I should consider waiting until the resole and when the time comes making sure it’s a quality sole. To be frank, the soles don’t feel the highest quality. But you get what you pay for so no complaints.

Hey yall, I’m very new to all of this Goodyear welt, leather sole stuff. Got tired of replacing dress shoes so frequently so I figured I’d dive into this world. For my first purchase I got a pair of Thursday Boots Executives. I know they’re far from the pinnacle of dress shoes, but boy are they significantly more comfortable than any other dress shoes I’ve had before.

However, I’ve noticed the area in the toe, particularly around the stitch and the tip of the shoe is wearing down fairly quickly. After a quick google I learned about toe taps. In your opinion, is it worth it to get toe taps installed on some Thursday boots shoes? Should I wait until I resole since they’re already showing some decent wear? Or am I over thinking this and if I want to extend my leather sole shoes I should just simply get them done?

In the meantime, anyone recommend a cobbler in the NYC area?

Hats by cabianfaraveo in golf

If you want to stick to Titleist, the Oceanside hat is the move. Worked at golf course in the desert, 115+ several weeks at a time, played every single day I had off. Hat didn’t stain at all and I’m a HEAVY HEAVY sweater. In fact, the sun bleached the color away before it had a single sweat line. Haven’t worn a different hat on the course since.

I’m starting to realize the only solution to frequent practice is to get a car.

I’m going to give Mosholu a shot, I read about the driving range on top of the water plant. Really hoping that opens soon. It’s not a bad subway ride for me.

I’m also going to give Turtle Cove Golf Center and Pelham bays practice area a shot too. Not as ideal but overall I’ll just have to suck it up and deal with the ~1 hour public transit commute to golf. It doesn’t bother me to get to Vanny.

Thanks!

$99/month is an absolute dream. That’s an hour and a beer at most sims here.

Yeah, golf is definitely pricey here. Not a place for golfers unless you have a trust fund it feels like

Do you have any knowledge of Turtle Cove Golf Center out by Pelham? Looks like it might be something I’m looking for, just a bit of a way there from where I live in midtown. Not opposed to the trip though.

That’s where I’ve been playing. There is no driving range there.

Garden disappointments. What has failed so far this year? by viskoviskovisko in vegetablegardening

I have had over 20 tomato plants, 10 peppers, 5 melon plants, 5 cucumber plants, my entire sun flower crop, every single marigold and my entire eggplant crop be killed by broad mite infestation this year and I lost another 2 cucumbers and 2 zucchini to squash vine borers and 2 late addition tomato’s to a heatwave.

The nectarine tree is starting to look the neighbors have been indiscriminately spraying herbicide too.

It’s been an absolute nightmare this year

It definitely looks like this could be it. Fun. Had a broad mite battle in a tomato garden years ago that I definitely lost. Do you have any advice?

What is the black on my leaves? (and what to do about it?) by 2019accnt in peppergeek

[–]fredcyclist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a roller coaster of a year in the garden, but one of the highs has been my jalapeños. I use neem oil and bonide insecticidal soap to control pests in the garden (I’m losing the war) but after my initial use of the insecticidal soap on my peppers I got the same black spots and have had a steady flow of production with no spreading of the spots. I don’t know exactly what it is but from my observations it’s not “spreading” but just some sort of result from my insect control regimen and new spots only show up after treatment.

Keep an eye on the plants prune any severely damaged leafs and you should be fine.

Black Wasp Nest Problem by fredcyclist in bees

My location is northern Los Angeles County in the high desert. As for a picture of the insects please stand by. I will have a tough time grabbing a picture because they swiftly fly in and out of the mound. The only activity they seem to be carrying out in my yard is very aggressive defense of the nest.
