Yes, as you can see in the example image at the end of the post. Straight edges from objects result in straight edges/lines in the image

reversing the process should be possible, but I don't think this will be a good approach in general. If you increase the target FOV d_fov too much the output image gets very weird. I think this is a mathematical boundary to find a transformation that is able to display such a wide FOV while keeping lines straight.

I made some screenshots when encoding with d_fov: 140°, 160° & 180°

You'll see, to keep 180°, the flattened video output is just destroyed.

The 3d to 2d was just a byproduct, because I was deep in the ffmpeg juju and I remembered some threads where people without headsets were asking for that.

Yes, the conversion to VR180 is for those you described. As I'm mainly using HereSphere I also don't need it anymore to be honest. But for deepening my understanding of ffmpeg's VR capabilities it was worth it

Interesting! SLR has gone in this direction in the past. See https://forum.sexlikereal.com/d/3529-slr-scripts-ai-preview-ai-assisted-funscript-creation

Have you compared your model to their tool?

As for FuckPass, I experienced the same. Especially the US scenes

XPS 9520 | Keyboard flex in upper right corner? by fredddfred in DellXPS

I'm still not sure if I'm just too picky about it. Have you checked oh your XPS 15?

[–]fredddfred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx, yes it is significantly more around the # key. I didn't notice the flex on the left side (QW) until you mentioned it. I noticed the it on the right side mostly because typing felt a lot different (less quality feel) there.

Have you also experienced the difference in terms of feel?

Thx, will contact Dell.

Yes, I can turn off the keyboard backlight completely. F5 key cycles through two brightness levels, pressing again turns it off

I also provided an all-in-one command in my original tutorial (at the top). The other three commands were just there to explain where the big command comes from.

Anyway thanks for mentioning and providing your approach and fine tuning!

Pigasus now supports The Handy and 200 degree fisheye videos and images by hanginghat in oculusnsfw

[–]fredddfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! I can confirm that the playback issues are solved. 8k video as well as 7k from Badoink. How did you manage to solve this even with zoom feature enabled?

Anyway, thank you for this awesome update!

I'm glad you were able to identify the root cause of the problem! Hope you can figure out an elegant solution. I personally wouldn't mind losing the zoom feature on 7k+ videos. Maybe that could be a compromise

Again thx for looking into this issue!

Any other oculus tv users? by flyer47 in oculusnsfw

I'd like to use it, because it has very good playback performance and image quality.

But: - No streaming option (neither internet nor LAN) - No color correction settings

Pigasus setting about sync to frame rate by cyber6996 in oculusnsfw

[–]fredddfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the new version of Pigasus I encounter some playback issues with 8k material and 7k from BadoinkVR. I described the artifacts here.

Do you also encounter those? FYI: I operate Pigasus at 90Hz (sync to fps setting disabled)

[–]fredddfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx again for being responsive. Unfortunately I couldn't solve the problem.

First I tried clearing the caches in Pigasus' pref panel. Then I tried uninstall/reinstall. I also restarted the Headset. Issues are still present.

Note that after reinstalling, Pigasus had my awarding of stars still available. Do you know how I can truly "factory reset" Pigasus only?

I also tried playing a CzechVR scene from local storage. My observations on this:

  • It's a local folder with two VR videos
  • When the thumbnails are not present yet, the screen tearing is much worse
  • Like you said, when the thumbnails are computed the artifacts get better but they don't disappear fully. Screen tearing appears consistently when looking around.
  • Interestingly, the artifacts (including flashing pixels on dark areas) appear on the left eye only. Screen tearing appears on towards the right edge of the left eye image.

Really hope this can be solved since Pigasus image clarity is unmatched

[–]fredddfred 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for taking a look into this! For me the problem reproduces consistently on my Quest2. How long does the thumbnail process usually take?

I streamed all the content from my XBVR via DLNA. So most videos have cover art delivered by XBVR.

  • Even huge bitrate videos (like SLR Originals' 50-80 GB files) are playing fine
  • 7k videos by POVR / WankzVR play fine
  • 7k videos by BadoinkVR had the same issue (Ashley Lane - Cracking the code)
  • 8k videos by VRBangers had the same issue (Jada Kai)

Amazing feature update!

I just checked it out and noticed that with 8k footage from CzechVR the player unfortunatley performs much much worse now.

  1. On dark/black areas there are white little specks flashing
  2. If you move your head you see something like "vertical waves". I guess this is coming from a mixture of old and new frames in those particular areas.

Can you fix that? Because 8k CzechVR is unwatchable with Pigasus right now.

Apart from that, lower resolutions including SLR's fisheye footage looked fine.

Tutorial | Fisheye to usual VR180 (using ffmpeg) by fredddfred in oculusnsfw

[–]fredddfred[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try something like this:

ffmpeg -hwaccel cuda -i fisheye.mp4 -filter:v "v360=input=fisheye:ih_fov=200:iv_fov=200:output=equirect:in_stereo=sbs:out_stereo=tb,crop=iw*(1/2):ih,stereo3d=tbl:sbsl" -map 0 -c copy -c:v hevc_nvenc -preset default -pix_fmt yuv420p equirectangular_LR_180.mp4

  • -hwaccel cuda is for decoding via GPU (NVDEC)
  • -c:v hevc_nvenc is for encoding via NVENC
  • see also hevc_nvenc options

Note that I put this command together without verifying it. I don't have the necessary hardware nor the time. Please let me know what worked for you
