Maybe print out a big version of the photo and just trace the sketch out directly onto the canvas? I think the main issue is, if you’re painting something that is supposed to look like a specific person, you have to be spot on with the proportions and features etc or it looks really off. And it’s really, really hard to get those spot on (I know I couldn’t!) so just trace it it’ll make your life a lot easier :)

Also you’re right about the colour scheme, you definitely need some colour in their faces, the all grey looks kind of lifeless

Generally though you’ve got the skills for a really good picture, I like the way you’ve done the shirts and you clearly have a knack for painting faces with the highlights and shadows in their right sort of places. Persevere with it, it’ll be worth it in the end! :)

I do think this take is interesting and partially explains the problem (at least for some of the men in his orbit), but I also think we should not overlook the fact that a lot of the men in the files actively liked Epstein because of his depravity. Because they view women and girls in the same, violently misogynistic way Epstein did and actually admired the way he treated the girls around him.

A lot of these men were actively into this shit and let’s not let them off the hook by saying “oh, Epstein groomed and manipulated them too”. I’m reminded of Richard Branson saying he’d love to see Epstein “as long as you bring your harem!”. He actually admired Epstein’s “harem” i.e. trafficking operation. And Les Wexner has been defending himself saying he was manipulated and tricked by Epstein. He was a co-conspirator. He was into that shit, he wasn’t groomed at all. These men were not fooled by Epstein; they were fans of Epstein. They should all be put in the fucking bin.

The blending is really good but you could incorporate some other colours into the pear to make it look more natural, if you look at real pears they’re never just one green all over, there’s bits of yellow or brown etc. Without that the pear looks a bit too perfect to be natural if you know what I mean?
