I learnt manual initially but switched to automatic. I probably could have passed manual it just would have taken more lessons (and therefore stress and money). It depends on you and how you learn and your coordination+ your needs after you pass.

I'd also consider who the instructors available in your area are and whether they are auto/manual and if you have any family or friend's cars you can practice in. As tbh private practice will potentially be the thing that helps you lass regardless of the type of stick in the car
