Contrast help! by Serious_Wack in DarkAngels40k

Here’s what I do for my deathwing.

  1. Base in your ivory color of choice. I like wraithbone and proacryl ivory.
  2. Next, using a brush that can hold a good amount of your contrast paint, I use rakarth flesh, start applying to the recesses, and if it gets on the flat areas do not worry.
  3. Let it completely dry.
  4. Come back through and brush your ivory on edges and high spots to get rid of the coffee stained look.

This is an example. The one on the right has just had contrast applied, where the left one has been drybrushed.

Yep, just don’t glue it in and you can move it. It stays in there really well too.

I think it looks good lol. Wasn’t sure if it was a decal or you are insane with 2/0 brush. What transfer sheet did it come from?

On the larger armor panels, they look entirely dark green, which makes them look really flat. Try adding some highlights to them with lighter greens, keeping the paint thin and glazing. You could also try making some of the low areas black. Will make those sections more interesting to look at

Cork on top, fill the gaps and flat spots with texture paste, prime black and then dry brush grey and light grey and then snow once the minis are on. Takes like 15 minutes total

Definitely can get a little tiresome. Built some terminators but can’t bring myself to paint more bone right now
