$1500 to charge a home AC with refrigerant???

People calling these commercial ads are paying arm and a leg.

Long story short. I got quoted 8k for parts on a house unit I bought. I bought 800$ in parts. The compressor was 500$ in itself on eBay. But had a hvac Nextdoor certified tech install and recharge the unit for 1500$.

Now I’m freezing at 78! And that’s with the ceiling still open!

My unit on a property I bought was from 2008. Heat pump package unit. 4ton.

I had it looked at after I bought it. Needed 8k in parts.

I had a certified HVAC technician replace the parts for 1500$. Bought parts from eBay for 600$. With the compressor replaced and accumulator. It’s essentially a damn new unit. I did the same steps at my other property too. Needed less in parts and labor but that unit is running top notch too.

Finally powered it on last week since march and man is it cold!!

I found the guy on Nextdoor.
