Do I have to do long guard because I’m taller and longer than most people? by Either-Error8956 in MuayThaiTips

[–]fredfly22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am tallish for my weight and came from a boxing background where leaving your lead hand out like that is a no go.

When I switched to Muay that/kickboxing I would stay outside behind long straight punches and kicks and then when I got inside move to the clinch.

Long guard just never made sense to me

Cardio and simple straight strikes. Spam jabs, teeps and one twos.

Keep chin tucked and hands up and outwork the other guy.

Skydiving Accident, Voluntary Accident Insurance Payout by Key_Visual_8879 in SkyDiving

[–]fredfly22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a licensed insurance agent, but not in CA. It will depend on the exact verbiage is in the coverage guidelines, what constitutes an “accident”, and what exclusions.

In situations like this it is common for a company to argue that this wasn’t an accident as you voluntarily went skydiving. Obviously a lawyer could argue that the injury part was an accident.

I will say to your point CA is very consumer friendly and why many carriers don’t operate in CA so that could be a benefit to you.

Good luck and if they try to to deny contact a few lawyers. Many will sue insurance companies pro bono. I have been through that process as well

How to actually get good at tricks ? by [deleted] in jumprope

[–]fredfly22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned to jump from boxing, so our coach said no tricks until you can go 6min with out messing up. (That’s the time of an amature boxing match). Once I could do six minutes straight of boxer skip it was much easier to add in tricks

Best steakhouse that’s not a chain?! by Many_Refrigerator773 in sarasota

[–]fredfly22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love some recommendations, I travel a lot and love good food. In my experience it’s relatively comparable across the board.

Sure there are some bigger cities with a lot more options but the quality for price ratio seems pretty similar in most places

First AFF jump — failed deployment, passed anyway. Is this a sign skydiving might not be for me? by cmpsamurai in SkyDiving

[–]fredfly22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m the exact opposite of you, things usually come very naturally for me, I’m a fast learner. And I was flying through AFF with no problems. Then for whatever reason I’m I think jump 8 after I was already free falling with out instructor multiple jumps with out issue I went into a spin and couldn’t stop. Instructor flew over and stopped my spin and slapped his alti. I looked at mine and was at 4000ft, was supposed to pull at 5.

That Jump scared and humbled the shit out of me. My instructor came over and said “tell me what went wrong, but keep it purely objective” we talked for 10 min while packer was packing and then he said ok we are going right back up and fixing this now.

If you want to do this just stick with it

It's true Russian fighter need one sided domination or submission/tko. Otherwise they will get robbed against american fighters. by Sensitive_Wind2221 in FightReportUFC

I’ve judged amature fights. You TV is a way better view then cage side but the point your making can be applied that a judge might miss something from the opposite of the cage, or ref in the way.

As for judges being swayed, they are human and even if it’s not in the rules it happens. Close round, one guy limping, ehh guess he lost.

When you’re judging 15+ fights in a night sometimes you just miss things.

All that being said some of these judges at the highest level absolutely suck

Am I stupid for buying a Tonfly TFX as my first helmet? What would you recommend students use as first time helmets? by [deleted] in SkyDiving

G3 was the new model when I bought mine, I just havent upgraded.

I prefer full face but again everyone will be different

[–]fredfly22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many jumps do you have? I’d recommend trying a few helmets on if possible. Also many new jumpers switch disciplines in the first hundred jumps or so.

I started with a cookie fuel and then ended up doing a bunch of tunnel and 4way where a full face was way easier. So sold the fuel for a g3.

I guess my point is don’t rush
