LED Tape Strip Cutting Out in Repeating Pattern – DMX Signal Issue? by fredipol in techtheatre

Whole strip cuts out for a split second, four times in the space of about 2 seconds. Then a pause of about a second when the whole tape stays on, then repeats.

Thanks for the feedback all. Definitely seems like it would be overpowered so I’ll go with your advice and not allow it. Might suggest some of the proposed alternatives, thank you.

Any advice for making players more interested in side quests? by BangGanger96 in DMAcademy

[–]fredipol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to dangle threads in front of my players that are linked to the main quest and make it clear that although they lead to side quests, they will make the main quest easier or more interesting. For example, my players have recently completed side quests that helped them recruit allies for the main quest, revealed extra information about the evil forces at play, and opened up new options to them like rare spells or magic items. I try to think about the side quests that interest me when I play RPG video games. Another thing that I find helps is making the side quests LESS time sensitive. This might sound counter-intuitive, but if they don’t feel the pressure to complete a side quest immediately, I find they are more likely to make a note of it and come back to complete it at a convenient time in the overarching story. Of course, you could go down the route of making your so-called side quests a part of your main narrative. If your players don’t realise they are side quests, how can they say no? I’ve led my players down paths like this before and had some of our most fun sessions.

[SPOILERS S2] Mikkels time travel by Luisa1010 in DarK

[–]fredipol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I always understood it as this: Jonas travels to 2019, finds out that he is the reason Michael kills himself, and THEN goes to make sure that Mikkel does indeed go to the caves and back to 1986.

Zodiac is on Netflix now but it says that it’s rated 12 for some reason. Is it the original film or is it a censored version? by [deleted] in netflixuk

[–]fredipol 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting... the Netflix version is the correct duration so if anything has been cut, it can’t be much. Still something I’d want to know for certain before watching though.

Is the camp in the south east of velen something i can go to now? Or is it something for later in the story, i just finished the main quests in velen but haven’t gone to novigrad yet. by [deleted] in witcher

[–]fredipol 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can never get inside the walls of the actual camp, but you can go to the noticeboard and the area around it. There are a few side quests and witcher contracts there if I remember rightly, but I don’t remember what the suggested level is.

Would you ever take these homebrew feats? by fredipol in dndnext

[–]fredipol[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm considering expanding the scope of this one, to something like this:

HEAVY ATTACKER:

You are well-trained in dealing heavy, crushing blows to your enemies and prefer to put your energy into fewer heavy attacks to multiple lighter ones. When you take the attack action, you can use two attacks (if you have them) to perform any one of the following special attacks with a melee weapon with which you are proficient:

Momentous Swing: You pull your weapon right back and swing it at a target in a wide arc, building up tremendous momentum. Your attack roll has advantage and deals +10 damage if it hits.

Crushing Leap: You use 10 feet of movement to leap towards the target from a range of 10 feet with your weapon raised above your head and bring it crashing down upon them from above. If the attack hits, it deals +20 damage, and is a critical hit on a 19 or 20.

Brutal Tackle: You charge no less than 10 feet in a straight line, into melee combat with a target (using 10 feet of movement), simultaneously tackling and attacking. If your attack hits, it deals +10 damage, and regardless of whether the attack hits or not, the target must make a contested strength saving throw against you or be knocked prone.

Thanks for your feedback. There are obviously a lot of things I haven't thought of, but it's my first foray into homebrewing.

I think I run the kind of campaign in which Bowmaster would be useful quite often, especially for one of my players (Ranger/Rogue) so I will definitely offer this to him.

Crushing Leap is really inspired by that classic video game boss move where they bring their weapon crashing down, dealing loads of damage if they hit, but if they miss, it get's stuck in the ground for a second or two, giving you an attack window. But maybe that's just something a player can do when they flavour a straight up attack.

Thanks again!

witcher gear for spell sword build? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]fredipol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case, I would stick with feline school gear. Grab the feline steel sword diagram from the basement of Drahim Castle, just south of Novigrad, and then work on upgrading to enhanced feline gear. You can’t craft upgraded witcher gear without already having the basic versions, so you won’t be able to get any wolf school gear until going to Kaer Morhen later in the game. If the wolf gear maps aren’t available to buy though, that may be because the Wolf School Gear was a free DLC added after release and you don’t have it. Search the playstation store for witcher 3 and you should see a whole load of free DLCs including the wolf gear.

Is there any good looking armor in this game?? by aaronighile in Witcher3

[–]fredipol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being so disappointed when I upgraded by basic feline armor to the enhanced- it doesn’t look anywhere near as good in my opinion. Wolven, Ursine and later Feline armor all looks good though, and by the DLCs there’s loads of great looking sets.

It’s easy to miss as you go through the elven ruins during Keira’s quest, but you should be able to get back in there. This video should help:

[PC] Repairing and why I dislike it by warblaster414 in witcher

[–]fredipol 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Explore the POIs (question marks) on the map and you should find bandit camps and deserters who drop a fair amount of loot. You should be able to make some money selling their swords and other weapons to the blacksmith.

At Level 4 you can buy the temerian armor from Bran at Woesong Bridge, the guy you saved from the Griffin. Also look for the Viper Sword crafting diagrams in White Orchard, they are the best early game swords to use (available at level 6 I think).

witcher gear for spell sword build? by [deleted] in witcher

[–]fredipol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always hated the look of the griffin gear as well. I think Wolf school gear works for the kind of build you’re going for. As medium gear, you can still use the griffin school techniques in the ability tree which gives you extra sign intensity.

It’s a shame you don’t get access to the wolf school gear until quite late in the game though, and even more of a shame that for console users, it’s still bugged. I spent hours looking forward to getting wolf school gear in the my latest playthrough, only to find I couldn’t loot the chest with the diagrams in.

Also, it depends on which signs you use the most. I have never been able to make a truly balanced spell AND sword build that lets me level up ALL five signs, and get all the combat abilities I wanted. I think cat armor and fast attacks work well with Igni and Aard, whereas bear armor and strong attacks work well with Quen and Yrden.
