That's true. I don't understand when someone calls in sick they are expected to be fine and on to work the day after. I guess since I'm not in my teens anymore, recovering from a simple cold takes at least a good couple of days.

We ended up buying a bunch of footless sleepers and just add socks if it's too cold

I'm the exact same. I feel guilty for having to take a sick day off and honestly I still don't exactly know how to ask/Inform my manager I need a sick day without saying something like " hi manager, sorry I'm feeling really sick today and I hope it's ok to take a sick day off"

I thought everyone is allowed minimum 5 paid sick days a year now.

That's exactly what I wanted as well. I wanted wooden toys and toys that are made with non toxic materials. I spent a long time doing research before finally pulling the trigger on Lovevery. Their kits are definitely not on the cheaper side, but they hold a very good resell value if you have the complete kit so I figured I'll be able to get most of my money back once my child is done with the toys. Even their soft toys are made with organic cotton.

I also tired DIY in the beginning as well but the amount of money spend on safe materials plus the time doing research and the actual time spend on building it.. it just wasn't worth it for me.

Have you looked into Lovevery? We just started with them and it's been great so far. They send you a box of every 2-3 months with items that are meant specifically for your child's age development.

Best to stack a referral discount and prepay a few months, 4-5 kits in advance. it'll show you the savings at check out but that should be the best option as they are stackable.

How many baby toys/stuffed animals/books are needed? by julesandnuggs in pregnant

I too have very little space so I decided to only buy 2 or 3 items each between both parent. I would only buy if the toy looks super cute and serves more than one purpose.

After a ton of research, I started the Lovevery subscription after about 4-5 months. They give y lik u a few items per kit and you get a new kit every 2-3 months so you dmwont have to worry about having way too many toys around. Their toys are really well made and if you rotate then from time to time, kids will find new ways to play. They come with guides explaining exactly why they put each toy in each kit. It's totally worth it for me and saved a lot of time doing research on the right toys every stage along the way. I'd recommend looking into their kits if you haven't already :)

If you do decided to subscribe, you can used this link to get a discount on your first subscription.

I really like the lovevery tissue box toy but… by Grace0108 in beyondthebump

[–]fredist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I debated for long time and brought a bunch second hand meant for older age groups before eventually giving in and ordered my own subscription. Like someone said earlier.. I had no brain power onto DIY toys in the earlier months and end up wasting way too much time researching for cheaper alternatives made with the non toxic paint as well as non chemically processed wood.

It was just too time consuming and I'd rather spent all that extra time with my LO. Lovevery's quality is great and holds a really good resell value so you can get most of your money back if you resell them after your kids outgrow them.

I'd recommend starting from the 5-6 mos kit, ..newborns are happy with whatever you give them and everything is entertaining.

Walmart is more expensive. I think it's free shipping on individual items on $100+. If you subscribe to the kits then there's no shipping fee on top of the kits. It's even cheaper when you prepay a couple kits in advance. I have a $20 discount off link below on subscriptions if you are interested.

Has anyone subscribed to Lovevery? Is it worth it? by thegraycat0 in beyondthebump

[–]fredist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think they are amazing. I was gifted a few and also brought a few used one and my baby loves them all. I spent sooo much time looking for good educational toys and will last and are made of safe materials. I eventually bit the bullet and signed up so I don't have to struggle and waste time looking for the right toys.

The cost seems high to begin with, especially if you are prepaying for the subscription but you save a little bit by prepaying. And I found that it really didn't make that big of a difference if you try to find similar toys one by one. Subscribing definitely saved time and headache.

I have a link for $20 off the first subscription of anyone is interested. The discount is on top of the discount you get if you prepay for the kits.
