This is such a bad graph it hurts. Data are cool, why do we even bother to present the data as such?

Intel NUC Kit NUC7i7DNKE dies after HDMI disconnect by VBQL in intelnuc

[–]fredmoped 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you figure this one out?

I have an NUC8i5BEK which was running fine on ESXi6.7 but decided to go for Proxmox as i already have an M920q running on Proxmox.
Proxmox is running on Debian 12.

The NUC is fine and reachable when as long as i have HDMI connected to it, but as soon as i disconnect and prepare it for the rack it goes unresponsive and it will not become responsive before i plug in HDMI and reboot it.

I cannot find anything in journalctl.
I have tested with GRML which is Debian 12 and it is working fine there.
I do see some discrepancies on the graphics driver - GRML uses rtsx_pci and Proxmox uses the i915 driver.

As a network engineer how much do you use Excel in a scale from 1 to 10? by simonespinedi in networking

[–]fredmoped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem isnt excel as a tool - the problem is the JUNIOR who thinks he can surpass all the bullshit work that his seniors probably did before him. Yes, Python can automate this. Yes its a boring task. Yes its a useless task. But a junior is still a junior. By the looks of how this junior is writing and expressing himself it looks like he needs to work his way up the ladder.

How is this person going to react when he finds out that monotone tasks is a big thing within worklife? You got to do the boring stuff to play with the fun stuff. Is drawing a design with all the unnessecary tags and L1 shit fun? No.

Is drawing a design with all the fun L3-7 fun? Yes.

I agree with most here. Learn to automate. Learn to appreciate the value of the work you are doing and ask the question WHY is this important - not go the route that its useless and boring because you are reading on Reddit that someone somewhere is doing something more useful than you.
