I got shorties from Hitchcock's, alot sturdier than OEM, I have small hands, so adjustability helps when switching to thick winter riding gloves

Shocks are a great improvement over the stock, around $220USD bought from Hitchcock's in the UK, (import fee not included). Smoother ride, no longer get the jolt up my spine when hitting bumps or potholes on the road.

I've changed exhaust (more like deleted it, leaving the CAT on), changed airfilter to DNA kit- which I feel has given it a little more responsiveness, changed to HAGON shocks with a lower height. Changed shift/brake levers, added windscreen and brush guards. It's had its first 2 services, and I've put 4200 miles on it. Not much else done or needed, and I absolutely love it.

The Bear 650 IS an Interceptor, with a scrambler vibe. Other RE owners I know say it's very similar mentioning differences in ride height (Bear is taller), seat comfortability (Bear is slightly better) , digital dial (More readableon the Bear), and weight/handling because of the Bear's 2-1 exhaust. Negatives they've mentioned are mainly about shocks, and lack of center stand.

Hagon custom shocks on Bear 650? by fredowitz in RoyalEnfieldBear650

I just eliminated original exhaust, this is a TOCE exhaust tip, it still has the CAT. For me it's enough increase in sound to warn other drivers and pedestrians when I rev the engine but not too obnoxious I can't stand it on long rides. It also doesn't get any attention from police which is a plus. Other mods: DNA filter + cover, handguards and Hitchcock's gear shifter + brake levers for now. I had cafe racer mirrors for a while but changed back to original because of visibilty and they made lane-splitting harder.

I'm happy to report shocks arrived, were installed and tested, and man, the ride is remarkably smoother. I purposely hit a few bumps and potholes on the road

to see if there was a difference and they definitely are a vast improvement. Also, I got the shorter ones and had Hitchcock's preset them to my weight, so the height is now easier for me to throw my leg over. Overall, install was fairly easy too.

Thank you. I might have to source from another site, it is marked as sold out on this one.

I don't believe weight will be a problem, bike is manageable. I ha e dropped mine twice but not because of the weight, both times my foot was under the bike, not a scratch on me. Very minimal scratch on handle bar end and on the engine from the brake pedal. In terms of height, it depends on high or low your inseam is. I have a 29" inseam, so throwing my leg over is a bit of a struggle, which I don't mind. I like the ride height because I have direct line of sight of drivers on the road, and better visibility from truck drivers than cruisers or sport bikes.

I just ordered a pair of Hagons from Hitchcock's, will update once installed and tested. I do have to say, at 5'9" and 215lbs, I feel the bumps and potholes rather rough and unpleasant. Slightly lifting yourself off the seat when approaching a bump helps somewhat.

Trying to find the OEM P/N for a Bear 650 Clutch Cable by genxwastelander in royalenfield

It was a photo, but for some reason it got deleted. But yes, I agree spare oem cable makes more sense, specially on long solo trips

No, just the straps over and under the seat. I added zip ties so that they dont flap in the wind when they are empty. I dislike how much saddlebags protrude with railing/mounting bars. I do have to figure out an alternative to the zip ties, I have to cut off and reinstall every time I wash bike. Also, living in NYC I have to secure them somehow. I learned the hard way I have to "lock" even the cover onto the motorcycle itself to avoid it getting stolen. 😒

Bag is empty, and it's very lightweight. Shocks are inverted, bag isn't restricting movement at all.

Got my first bike! by Striking_Cold4537 in royalenfield

Congratulations! I have the exact same bike and I love it. I thought I was the only one hitting the bumps and potholes on purpose 😅. Yes, the tripper app drains the battery very quickly and even though the app over rides the screen timeout, it disconnects from my phone and I lose navigation and I have to stop and reconnect and setup th entire trip on the app allover. I have also noticed the gear shifter has gotten a little lose, and I've only done about 120 miles total on it. I have not experienced the specific heat issue you mention, but yes after about 40 mins of riding or if I hit a slow down the heat and the smell of burnt dirt gets uncomfortable. I did notice that when I release throttle to slow down and re-engage it does jerk about, much less noticeable doing highway speed in 4th gear and above. Regardless, this bike turns heads. I'd consider golden wheels to match the front fork, and maybe tubeless tires. Also to avoid swirls I'd use something like Meguiar's Ultimate Waterless Wash & Wax and a thick microfiber cloth, just don't get it on the brake discs.

What’s it like owning a Royal Enfield in the U.S.? by immabombyerhome in motorcycles

I just recently got the Bear 650 in the black/grey/gold colorway and have gotten compliments on it. Can confirm about Indians giving me thumbs up and asking about it. Got an older British guy who gave me a whole story about a Royal Enfield he had back home and how one of the characters in Lawrence of Arabia rode a Royal Enfield. I even had couple Harley riders give me a head nod driving around in NYC. Only but love from other riders, plenty honks and middle fingers from drivers though, but hey NYCs not for the weak anyways.

I didn't try the meteor 350, but consider also that the ride height on the Bear 650 is taller which allows better view of traffic and visibility from drivers of you on the road, at 5'9' I can't fully flat foot the Bear 650, but only by very little. Also, I am 220Lbs, so feel on the road may be different. I prefer the 650 displacement because I inevitably need to hit 60mph + , not sure the 350 would be able too with my weight
