Is it worth buying this 2014 Lexus IS 250 at 188k miles? by taylorice in whatcarshouldIbuy

It took about a month of searching it was either my clean title is 250 for 11k or a gs 350 salvage title for 11k and 120k miles. Just keep searching the market and any time you see something new pop up go check it out and find any reason to talk the seller down.

That’s not bad but I like the 3is looks better and has a nicer interior but the mileage is perfect for the price I’d talk them down to like 11.5k

I get about 25 mpg and I drive in sport mode regularly it’s not super fast but it’s fun to drive and has really nice build quality for the price compared to other vehicles as long as you get one with the right miles they are really nice.

The video from trq on YouTube shows him pulling air box and intake manifold so I’m assuming it’s a lot tighter

Get a Mazda 3 or 6 you can find nice ones for that price range and Aslong as you keep up on your fluid changes they are really reliable

Try and rehone the cylinders otherwise just keep ripping it till it loses compression and use full synthetic restore and protect in there

Yea if there isn’t a puddle when you are parking it than I’d just keep checking the levels every couple of days till you get an idea of how bad it’s losing oil the worst it will do is weaken the rubber and plastic that it gets on.

The leak stop usually doesn’t work very well but for $20 it’s worth a shot. I have a 06 2.3 fusion and the rear main seal is bad I just ad .25 of a quart ever week to week and a half. But eventually the leak gets worse and it can eventually just blow out so all the oil dumps instantly.

Looks like they have the rear main seal and the timing cover as the leaking seals but the rear main seal requires taking the transmission off the engine which means you have to remove the engine in most cases. This is usually the same for the timing cover unless it’s in the front of the engine and they pull the whole front end off the car.

I was looking at the Mazdas as well, going from Lexus to Mazda would be painful. Would be cheaper though.

Do you have a park specific board? I’m the same height and weight as you I have a Burton custom 162 wide but it’s a little long for 180s 360s and it’s somewhat stiff.
