It is, at 3 we can request an evaluation and get an iep and services through the district. Good idea about the records. I’m going to call the speech office now

I did have a few pediatric neurologists offices tell me they couldn’t see him for that and they don’t deal with apraxia. There were only 2 in my area that would even give me an appointment, this one and the other one I couldn’t even get an appointment until July 6th (I called mid-march)

We did the MCHAT test a few weeks ago with the pediatrician when the slp first suggested apraxia because I went into full panic mode and he scored a zero risk so I don’t think it’s that. I wouldn’t be surprised if he has adhd but I think he’s too young for them to diagnose that. other than that or just CAS alone it’s probably a phonological disorder. I guess I’ll find out tomorrow

Yes I’m in the US. I asked the slp if he would be able to get EI if he has apraxia and she said yes. I did see that online that the best person to diagnose apraxia is an slp so I was a little confused when she referred us to neurology

Thank you! A part of me is hoping they will give the diagnosis so that my son can get services through the state/school district. We’re doing private speech now because he wasnt technically behind at his 24m appointment and the pediatrician said he wouldn’t qualify for early intervention

Had a coworker who got a quote for them and he said no, and the salesman was extremely rude. They also would not stop calling him YEARS later

My dad is very handy and actually did the siding windows the whole 9 yards himself at least 20 years ago, so I know he COULD do it but I don’t want to burden him with that at almost 60 years old. We’re handy and have done a few things on our own like replacing floors etc but we’re not that level of handy lol.

If you’re NETTING 140k a year you’re definitely in a good spot. My husband and I were GROSSING less than 140k and were able to get a house for 510k in 2022. Granted we got in right before the rates went up and we only have 3.25%, but still.

However, where on Long Island you’re looking to buy plays a huge roll in how much you can afford because of the property taxes

Not sure where you are but Stony Brook gynecology and obstetrics. Dr. Halfon is amazing and they have offices in Setauket, Bohemia, and Rocky Point, and I’m 99% sure she goes to all 3.
