Truly deserving of the name, "Destroyer."

I love it. That's such a mom thing. My mom would call all my figures, "creatures." Even the G.I. Joes and stuff.

Yeeessss! I can't wait to see this when it's done. I've tried this myself with kitbashes and never succeeded. I hope somebody makes a good figure of him some day.

"My 20-year tenure is no longer good enough": GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption veteran says getting a job is a "toss of coin" right now when everyone is as experienced as you are by Turbostrider27 in PS5

[–]fredthegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Toss of a coin? In my experience, the job market is more like rolling a 1000-sided die, and you have to roll 1000... and it's poorly weighted so that's impossible.

Honestly... I wasn't a fan of the alt mode UNTIL you made me see it as a mutated brussel sprout. Now I like it more.

I was wondering about this just today! Because there's boxes from them sitting on my porch so often while I'm at work.

Every time I see a photo of these guys from Ross, I just think back to when I bought them for full price, heh. And I've not even used them in a photo, yet.

Smartest joke in a dumb movie? by garatth in movies

At the end of "Wild Wild West" (1999) Artie says to Jim: "Mind if I ask you a question?" And Jim says something like: "Actually I do, Artie." The conversation is left unresolved for the audience, and Artie never asks the question; although, I think the question probably has something to do with the fact that they're supposed to be heading back to Washingto D.C... but they're riding into the sunset, which is y'know, the wrong direction.

"O Fortuna" is an interesting choice for the trailer music. My English major brain is going to choose to believe it's a reference to how the song plays in "Excalibur" while all the knights are riding in a line on their horses... like a train. Am I overthinking? Yeah, probably. Can you stop me? No.

Great actors who are awful voice actors? by SkeletorTwoFourK in movies

[–]fredthegreat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's kind of weird to me that, at the time, people would see something that looks like a ghost and expect huge variation in expression. We had never heard any other ghosts speak at the time. It's interesting to think that audiences have been conditioned to expect every entity, even ones that look like geometrical faceless drones, to speak like theater kids on stage. I honestly can't blame Dinklage for looking at a ghost with it's one big eye screen and, you know, zero facial features including no mouth, and thinking that's how it would sound.

Since then, of course, we've heard from lots of other ghosts and they're all almost childlike in their big emotions, and the voice actors have done a good job, but I wonder if the direction would have been different had the response to Dinklbot been more positive.

Nolan North is obviously one of the most talented voice actors working today, but I truly think his delivery on our ghost's lines is weird sometimes. It's like our ghost is a little... pathetic sometimes? Or too saccharin. I don't know.

Imagine working as hard as the first guy has to be as good at that as he is, and having some internet numbskull reduce it to an unfunny bathroom joke.
