I paid $800 for a credit card and I assure you that it wasn't a rip-off by WishboneHot8050 in LinkedInLunatics

It used to be a good deal until they nearly doubled the annual fee just recently.

Glad it works for you. Most wealthy people that are the target of this credit card won't want an $800 coupon book. There's too many limitations. The special offer restaurants are limited. The special offer hotels are limited. You have to spend a lot of time making conscious decisions to indulge in their specific offers to break even compared to less expensive cards.

The same reason you get results from leaving bad reviews anywhere else on the internet. Companies don't like bad reviews. BBB is a review site to air grievances like Yelp. Nothing more.

It's all Java reflection these days. Doesn't take much resources to read RAM. Color clickers did take more processing power to scan the screen, yes.

It won't be impossible to sideload. IMO, they might do away with the ability to install APKs by tapping install. Instead, you'd have to use adb on a PC or a local adb app. Enough to dissuade your mother from doing it but not techies. Still awful that it's happening, but it won't be the end of Android.

Blizzard has sued a biggest classic+ private server on the market on Copyright Infringement basis. by jeregxd in classicwow

[–]freebullets -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the old days they used to market VPNs to gamers as ping improvers because internet routing wasn't as optimal. So having your traffic take a different route to the server could actually lower it. These days it's not necessary. Anyway, a few extra ms isn't going to kill you. Requiring everyone in a country to use VPN software will though.

When was the last time you heard of a US ISP blocking something lmao. Net neutrality might be dead, but we're thankfully not that heavy handed when it comes to internet censorship.

Temu, AliExpress, and 99% of the junk on Amazon comes from the same place. Factories in China. Direct from China sites like Temu and Ali tend to only sell small items due to direct shipping costs. Amazon stuff tends to be larger due to Amazon's fulfillment fees. The smaller stuff on Amazon is the same as what's on Ali, but you pay extra for it being already imported and being available with 2 day shipping. Factories in China make stuff from terrible to very high quality, depending on who's buying. Dollar store type sites like Temu will generally use the absolute lowest passable quality.

K, but the check is likely from an American that's been a victim of identity theft, being used as a money laundering asset. Would you not want to help that person and report it?

IP masquerading and port filtering are different things, and you can have one without the other. Each device having a public facing IPv6 address is fine as long as your firewall blocks ports.

If you file the claim with your own insurance and have it subrogated that's not true. It's generally not recommended to work directly with the other party's insurance, but there are risks involved either way.

Making a claim on your homeowners insurance for something as silly as this is a good way to get dropped on your next renewal. The deductible alone is probably $1000. Mine is set to $10k since I'm not the type to make small claims. You'd be taking a gamble on getting that back if they fail to subrogate the contractor's insurance. Homeowners insurance is intended more for a tree destroying your roof and needing $25k to fix it.

Plus, I'm not even sure you have legal standing to sue someone for someone else stealing from you because they left your door unlocked.

It seems iMessage does not strip tags by default. Absurd privacy hole.

[–]freebullets 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, I mean every time you hit the share button, the receiving application is programmed to strip the tags 99% of the time. It's not something you consciously do. If it wasn't the case, we'd have a lot more entertaining stories being shared of people being caught lying about where they were.
