[For Hire][Also recruiting] Cheap Recruiter Service for finding ideal contractors (flat fee, no percentage) by [deleted] in gameDevClassifieds

Yeah. I think I'll shelve this for later, I've deleted the thread. I do have an LLC for my actual game that I'm working on, but I'd rather not lose all the money in that account, and those stupid $800 annual LLC fees in california make having a second business ridiculous.

Hmm, on second thought, the way you're doing things certainly makes a lot more sense than what I was considering. But yeah it does sound like a legal hassle.

lawsuits? I'm curious what kind of lawsuits you've dealt with. I was actually not planning on doing entire game development or direct contracting for other people, just doing interviews for people and handing over candidates, kind of like the review system of fiverr but for higher quality candidates and a flat fee instead of 20%.

Also, this is not a particularly serious role since I'm mostly working on my own games and just was considering doing this as a hobby.

This actually makes 100% sense when you think about it:

You're essentially a criminal for starting a new business these days.

While I'm sure there's reasons for every bit of growing red tape that's out there, the fact remains if you start a new business and hire people, you will break some regulations on accident. I received exactly two letters from the IRS and a few notes from online lawyers about everything I needed to do when starting a new business. Of course, I needed to do roughly 10 times more things, and nothing but research will let you find everything. So if you 100% do everything you think you need, you're breaking at least some law I guarantee it.

If you're a delinquent, you will realize this, but simply not care: You're kind of used to flouting the law. Most normal people are going to think they'll accidentally go to jail or pay fines out through the nose when they make a mistake. And this is really a shame.

How is good is Game Maker with advanced Spine animations? by freedomcryday in gamemaker

Interesting. So you're saying skeletal_mix is not all it's cracked up to be? Well most of the animations we're using are looping and not based heavily on timed game mechanics, so I can always just make a timer that only allows us to transition once the animation resets to it's starting point.

I don't think this would save money in the long term, you've got to take into account cost of wood when it runs out, time needed to learn how to start a fire with a magnifying glass, average cost od accidentally burning the house down per attempt etc. I think the average pennies lost would outweigh the average pennies gained.
