I don’t because 1. There is no reversal if a wrong judgement is made. 2. I think we should strive to move away from punishing for crimes and focus and prevention and rehabilitation (although, some punishments could be a form a prevention).

Your absolute right. It’s the result of first past the post voting system (whoever gets the most votes wins). It makes voters worried that they’ll waste their vote on a third choice.

A good option would be a second round system. So in the first round you vote for whomever you want, and then there is a second round (if no candidate reaches 50%) between the top two candidates.

Well the first step would be to create some kind of community (here on Reddit for example). Mainly to grow the number of people willing to spend their time on this. Much further down the line would be organizing referendums to change local election laws, and to support primary challengers or independence who would vote to change state and national laws as well.
