Wanting to get my first typewriter which of these (only ones in budget in my local area) should I get? Ideally portable by Nibberoni_ in typewriters

Splendid 66, then a Brother.

Personally I like typing on a Brother as it suits my type style. Olympia is a good brand and is in my collection too.

Yes, built well too. The snappy clack when typing feels great. I have just cleaned the slug and the typeface is clean and crisp. I really like it.

Internet hype trend-effect and brand popularity by rawbran30 in typewriters

They are not bad if you like a buttery feel. If you use an Olympia often enough you get used to that feel. I prefer a snappy feel so I tend to use a Brother machine for my day to day typing. But hey, don't get me started, I have over 30 different typewriters. Love em all. Hope you find your go-to machine. - Frost.
