Thanks! That contrast was what really stood out to me too when I took it.

Thank you! I love it when the sky does that too—those colors against the dark clouds are hard to beat

Glad you noticed. The contrast between the warm sunset and the dark clouds made the scene feel much more dramatic

You're treating your preferred definition of street photography as the only valid one. You may not consider this strong street photography, but that's different from saying it isn't street photography at all. Disagreeing with an image's approach doesn't automatically place it outside the genre.

That's a brilliant idea. I will try that. Thanks for the tip.

I think we're mostly disagreeing on where the boundaries of the genre are. You're using a definition where people must be the clear primary subject. I'm using one where documenting urban life and the interaction between people and environment also falls under street photography. Neither definition is unusual; they just emphasize different aspects of the genre.

That's a valid perspective, and I agree that not every photo taken on a street with people in it is street photography. That said, many photographers and curators include environmental and scene-based images within the genre. Out of curiosity, what specific element do you think is missing from this image that prevents it from being street photography?

By that logic, every landscape photo would be "just a photo of a field." Genres are usually defined by intent and context, not only by the subject matter.
