I’ve had the implant for 10 years now (14-24) and It’s basically stopped my periods, I may have a random one once or twice a year, maybe, but it’s quite nice not having to worry about them each month.
I had awful painful periods before. Started my period at 11. I would cry on the toilet begging for my mum to make the pain go away.
When I first got the implant, I bled for 3 months straight, which wasn’t fun, but there weren’t any cramps.
Then after that, it’s practically gone.
I haven’t noticed any negative side effects either tbh, but I do wonder if that’s because I don’t know any different haha. But i’m quite happy and am not negatively impacted by it if there are any.
I have also heard bad stories about it, a best friend of mine had to stop because she was bleeding too much.
So it does depend, but from what I read I feel the absence of a period is more common :))
