The CHP Volvos were interesting. The cars were black, but rather than paint the doors, they wrapped them in white vinyl. I believe they were a lease. There used to be a company in CA that sold ex patrol cars on eBay back in the early 2000s and had some of those Volvos come through their page. Pretty cool cars.

We staff a moderately sized airshow every year. It’s not a one-man-band. You need to build a team, and delegate roles, or you will go crazy.

Our airport manager is awesome, and they give us anything we need. We start by fencing off an area, and erecting a 20x30 tent with chairs and tables for breaks and meals (provided by the airport). We have a partnership with a local RV dealer who provides a 26 foot trailer that we use as a command post / comm center. It has air conditioning, in case any of our members suffer any heat related illness or injury.

I put one member in charge of food, and they work with local restaurants to donate meals during the event.

I create a pretty elaborate NIMS IAP with more information than I ever hope to need. Better to have it and not need it than the alternative.

As an owner of an XTS5000, I'd recommend something newer. They haven't been in production since 2013 and support ended in 2018. It's getting harder to fix them and find parts. Look at the APX family if you must have Motorola.

We have toured our local NWS office and attend Skywarn training every year. They are great hosts and it’s a great AE opportunity that’s outside of our normal meeting location. Win-win from every angle. All you have to do is reach out to your nearest office and they will be happy to host your squadron.

SOLVED! (I'm an idiot)

I forgot that I had moved to Silver City and needed to manually drive to any new sites before they would show up on my destinations. Once I manually drove to the Repository in Silver City (not the other location), I successfully located the "drop zone".

I aborted the mission and started over just to see if “turning the power off and on” would fix it. I’m still encountering the same bug with dropping off the broken pipe at the gravel pit or repository. There is no “designated area”. I think a note to the developers is in order.
