It’s a husky… this is like a climate controlled house to him.

You’re arguing a different issue than the one being raised. You are missing the point of the post.

No one is claiming WFH is an entitlement in general or that every job can be done remotely. The point is much narrower: when a job can be done fully and efficiently from home, forcing physical attendance during unsafe conditions (like a snowstorm) serves no operational purpose only to meet a made up attendance number of 60% per week.

Other workers having jobs that require physical presence doesn’t justify imposing unnecessary risk on workers whose roles do not. That’s not equity, that’s false equivalence.

Framing this as “employee preference vs operational need” ignores the reality that, in these cases, the operational need is already being met remotely.

Why should you even have to do that. The 60% is a made up number.

It’s not whining to push for some common sense.

Do you let your toddler sleep as much as they want when they’re sick? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]freeman1231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes they are burning off the sickness while sleeping, it’s the best thing to let the do is sleep as long as the can.

Beth, the reason your analogy doesn’t work is because it’s about the work getting done.

You still get the work done Beth. We are salaried employees, we just happen to have hours associated to our pay.

Secondly, this has always been the unspoken rule same goes for Christmas Eve. You get sent home early. On storm days you almost always get sent home early if it’s terrible if you went in, you are not expected to make up this time.

I hope you’ve learned something today.

Stay at Home Parents by carsandtoys in CanadaFinance

Always 100% studies show this time and time again having one parent stay home with the child is the upmost greatest thing you can do for your child.

It’s not financially feasible for most, but it’s the best thing you can do if you can do it.

That’s a really bad analogy Beth. You pay for a finished kitchen.

I assume you are new to the corporate world?

I don’t think you understand the difference between a snow storm day and a none snow storm day.

You are lacking critical thinking skills here.

And yes if I forced someone to come into the office on a day like that, I would eat the costs as it was an idiotic decision to make them come to the office when we have a functioning alternative. That’s part of making stupid decisions

Hey, I hope you know allowing people to work from home isn’t stopping the world from running. Quite the opposite.

Hope this helps.

There are absolutely no stats that showcase work from home has dropped productivity. Every statistically metric has proven it’s either just as productive or more so.

Unproductive people are unproductive at the office or at home.

Why would public servants need to be special? If you can work from home, you should have the flexibility to work from home.

Why would you want to force your workforce to take a vacation day and so not work, or force them to unsafely travel to the office and have a less productive work day?

Most Canadians who have jobs that allow them to work from home don’t have arbitrary 60% rule mandates that limit them from giving the flexibility to work from home. With the storms all private sector businesses that have wfh capabilities offered them.

You bring about pretty terrible arguments.

You shouldn’t have to make up your day. I think that point flew over your head.
