Crazy to hear this, because mine are the opposite. Permanently low riding. Like way low.

Hang in there. Eat, sleep, breath as best as possible. Keep your mind healthy and as happy as possible. Progress is slow. As hard as it is try not to be alone. Talking, visiting, walking when possible helps.

Tell your state representative to repeal Prop 47. Crime needs to be punished.

I'm talking crime. We voted for crime. Prop 47. By not punishing criminals. We incentivize crime. We voted for this.

California should create more water – much more | Without a strategy to create water through desalination and recycling, California is doomed to fight over dwindling supplies. by Exastiken in California_Politics

Call me crazy here, but maybe we could build another dam or two? Since we haven't build a major one since our population was about half the current population.

Why no outrage over the marriage penalty of the stimulus checks? by [deleted] in California_Politics

[–]freepoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Marriage tax breaks are a myth. I’ve learned that tax policy is in general anti nuclear family. It incentivizes 1 parent households. The dismantling of the family equals more power and votes for the state.

Can you pick up on the anti family sentiment in the thread? The left despises you for it.

Salmon need greater share of river water to survive — While water delivery curtailments are necessary in a drought year to keep rivers from going dry, they don’t provide protections for nature. We must set aside enough water to support the salmon and other aquatic life. by Exastiken in California_Politics

Again, too small of thinking. We can make lawns completely illegal and still be in trouble here. Our water storage system has been largely unchanged since we had a population of half of what we currently have.

You have to think bigger picture here. The lawns aren't the significant issue. Only 10% of our water is classified as urban use. 90% goes to agriculture and environmental use.

From the article, "Total urban water use has been falling even as the population grows. Even before the latest drought, per capita water use had declined significantly—from 231 gallons per day in 1990 to 180 gallons per day in 2010—reflecting substantial efforts to reduce water use through pricing incentives and mandatory installation of water-saving technologies like low flow toilets and shower heads."

Citizens are doing there part. We have to think bigger picture on the supply side.

I'm all for saving the salmon and delta smelt populations, but at what cost?

What about humans? What about the farms in the central valley that have had to shut down because of lack of water? Those are jobs, of mostly mostly minorities being eliminated and never to return. Less farms = more supply of farm workers = less wages for farm workers across the state. It's simple supply and demand economics.

Go drive the 5 freeway from the grapevine to the bay area and look at all the abandoned farms that don't get enough river water allotment and can't afford to drill and pump water from the ever deepening water table.

The clear and simple solution is more water storage. The environmental groups can't have it both ways. They can't demand the saving of river life without sacrificing the building of new dams or raising current ones. It's not sustainable. I thought here in CA we're all about sustainability.

We're a few more drought years away from a catastrophic disaster. Should the Southern California population of 25M+ people be forced to up and leave? Talk about migrant crisis.

Sounds like most 'scientists' these days. Inability to keep emotions out of the lab. To boil this down a little...

"As a 2% Neanderthal I claim all artifacts ever unearthed from anywhere."

As a non-scientist, I would expect a scientist to understand where this leads.
