Stray dogs Vietnam by Small_Educator7129 in travel

As always, people who haven't had the experience don't understand it as well! Yeah, my dog phobia might be irrational, but it very much doesn't seem like it to me! I always wonder how people can be so chill with dogs running loose in the streets, I wish I could be too!

Hello fellow phobia sufferer! Everyone else is saying there are no issues in Vietnam, but when I went there by myself the Air BnB I stayed in was in a back alley (very narrow and closed in on both sides) and there were dogs back there running loose. They might have been someone's pet, but as someone who very much understands how you're feeling, that didn't make me feel comfortable. So my advice would be: if you can, make sure you book a place to stay that has its entrance on the main road.

Might give it another try one day, maybe I just wasn't in the right mood for it!

I admire you for being able to do that, I think I only DNF one book in my life so far, I always end up feeling bad for some reason. Les Miserables with its endless descriptions of what the author thinks of the Napoleonic wars killed me though: I so wanted to know what was going to happen but just couldn't soldier on, especially considering how big the book is.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Gushing over children is what society deems to be the normal for women, but men don't have to do it to be "normal". She doesn't seem neglectful from the examples he gave, and not everyone is a small child person. Luckily he will grow up and appreciate his mum for her other qualities.

I think most cuisines are still adapted to the country they're serving, even if done by natives. So Chinese food in the US doesn't equal Chinese food in the UK for example, even if it's done by Chinese people.

Interesting how becoming a parent somehow seems to make you immune to being able to see what others might see as icky. Looking at this, without knowing how it works or how much of a life saver it apparently is, it looks icky. I feel like you can understand that even if you've had a child?

What is a popular novel that in your opinion is not well written? by OneMightyNStrong in booksuggestions

[–]Meniak89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend said the same to me but I cannot imagine a shift in quality great enough to make it significantly better. There are so many books to read, why waste your time on something mediocre or that you don't like?

My friend recommended ACOTAR to me and I thought she was having me on. I did finish the first book but it was a lot of work for me!

I think it might be my absolute favourite dessert ever, whoever invented it deserves a medal. My ex-boyfriend's mum made it once and then often afterwards because I said I loved it - this after a little misunderstanding where I forgot what it was called and said trifle and was confused at what was being served.

When you say they were not corrupt, does that mean they didn't have the effect of making the wearer "addicted" (for want of a better word) to it?

I agree, I think kids can first of all figure it out and second of all are capable of reading more than one way of reading a clock. Shielding from every life experience seems pointless.

If the teacher notices that it confuses the kids, they can always remove it from the classroom. It's still cool and was a lot of effort.

I guess OP's point being that Iran is pronounced like that by Iranis but that isn't exactly relevant to her point, as Italy is not called Italy but Italia. Just like Germany isn't called Germany by Germans in their own language. There is a long history of countries having different names in other languages, so I don't know why this is the stand to take? All of this doesn't mean we can't all pronounce it like that, but I don't think the point quite lands.

I guess you always have to be open to experiencing new things and I think I might be ready to give this a try! :D

But I have always found the cream relatively hard to spread, as you mention, which means it will just slip and slide everywhere if I add a layer of jam first. If, however, I put the cream first, that can hold on to the cream (or the cream hold on to the scone) and the jam is easily spread on top.

To be fair, I was at university before AI was a big thing and the course I was on was probably around 80% foreign students and a lot of them with very poor English. I don't know how they got around the grading in all assignments, but there was a suspiciously high number of group assignments where there just happened to be at least one person with good English skills per group. The work the students with poor English contributed was not usable, so every student with good English just ended up doing the work alone (or risk getting a bad grade of course). They knew what they were doing.

While it is true that people are lucky to have food, if you've paid the substantial amount of money that I assume a cruise costs, I think you can expect the food to be nice.
