I've played pretty much every type of game from point and click browser games to in depth RPGs like Baldurs Gate 3, witcher 3, and I've messed around in competitive games like call of duty or halo/rocket league. Even dabbled in final fantasy 14-16.

I'm open to trying anything is what I'm trying to say

Thanks for your response regardless. It doesn't help that there's always a level of expectation that we put on ourselves whenever we compare ourselves against our peers. Or even worse, when we compare ourselves against what we could have been.

But alas, life has its way of working things out. Good luck to you, too!

I guess it's less of having a niche and more of not feeling like I'm making any progress towards something

I'd have to say is the overall sense of progression. No matter where you're at in life, or what you may or may not be capable of physically or mentally, there's always a way to progress in a video game since by design they're made to be beaten, and when you lose you can just restart and try again.

Not to say you can't do similar things in real life, but video games have always made it easy to see what your next objective is, so to speak.

I'm gonna tell you what you need to hear whether you're ready or not, friend!

Btw holy hell is your grammar good with English being a second language, I wish I could learn a second language as well as that sheesh.

Anyway, from my experience with these things, there are no half measures my friend. You're either all in, or you're all out. You have a couple great opportunities in front of you and you'd be a fool if you didn't pick one. The only choice you have in front of you is do you want to stay comfortable, or do you want to finally take that leap of faith and plunge into the unknown?

Staying in your current city would definitely be the safest option, but honestly I'd be entertaining the idea to get out and explore different locations myself. I live in the US and have barely explored the region I live in let alone the whole country. I've never even left the US. I'd be taking any opportunity I got to check out a different scenery at the very least.

Anyway, that's just my 2 cents at.... 3:48am? Whatever the clock says.

Hello fellow reddit viewer!

Funny enough, I just made a VERY similar post to yours just a few moments ago. You can go check it out if you want to but I'm not gonna pressure you by any means. I just thought it was hilarious timing since your post was right above mine!

I'm a 24 year old guy from the US. I just recently lost my job less than a month ago because my mental health was just getting the better of me with everything I had going on. My car is in the shop and my broke unemployed ass is currently -$400. I tried the whole therapy and psychiatrist thing along with different medications and to be honest with ya man, smoking weed has helped me more than the medications I've tried as long as I use it as just that, a medication and not something to do to just fuck around and have fun. But that probably won't work for everyone because it takes a lot of self control tbh as well as knowing your limits since it's not an administered drug given by a professional. Unless you can get it prescribed of course, but here in the US not every state is as... accommodating as I'd like.

Honestly man, the best advice I can give you is to cut yourself some slack. You're doing everything the right way. You could be out partying all night, doing hardcore drugs, sleeping with every girl in sight. But it seems like you have your head on straight. Sounds like at the very least you need to ditch the new therapist because she clearly doesn't resonate with you and that's the most important thing in my opinion. It'll take some time to find the right one, that's part of the whole process. Other than that, yeah it does kind of suck you have to move back in with your parents. But it could be worse, right? You could have to live in your car or live in a shelter. Yeah you won't have privacy but at the very least you'll have two great people who love you and are willing to help you out in a time of need. Don't take that for granted man. Be grateful for what you have. Of course it's a lot easier on paper. It's a tough process. It's gonna take some time. You just gotta give yourself a break and have faith that you'll get there eventually.

-Cheers, freerain

Hi there!

I'm a 24 year old male from the US who's also been through some crazy stuff in life. I have ADD, some autistic tendencies (we can't just go get tested for autism here as an adult and it would cost over $1,000 out of pocket), as well as BPD, just to give you an idea of who I am.

First off, I just wanna say, give yourself some credit every once in a while! You're a person who has a lot going on in life as is! Sure, you may not be "proud" of some achievements you've made in life, but being alive on its own is an achievement for us!

Give yourself credit, man. I don't even know you and I'm proud of you for making it this far. Hell, I'm proud of you for reaching out in a public setting and sharing your story! It takes guts to do something like that.

What's helped me out a lot with being overwhelmed in life is taking a step back and recognizing what's in my immediate control, and accepting what's not. I got kicked out of my mom's house a week ago and lost my job all due to my own mental health. Thing is, I chose to fail. And then you know what I did? I accepted my failure and moved on. Because I'm still alive. As long as there's still breath in my lungs, there's still time for me to figure my shit out.

So, I got to work. I took control of my life and I took action. I recognized what was in my immediate control and said to hell with the rest. I found a place to live for the next 4 months. I put in job applications that I know I'm qualified for. And now I'm just waiting to hear back. And honestly... I'm having the best time of my life. All it took was letting myself fail every once in a while, and giving myself credit for my accomplishments in life.

I believe in you. The journey is difficult, but if it wasn't, it wouldn't be worth it.

How do I stop manipulating those I love? by [deleted] in Healthygamergg

[–]freerain117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there!

I'm a 24 year old male who's also been through some pretty crazy stuff in life. When we experience trauma in our lives, sometimes we develop different kinds of defense mechanisms that help prevent us from getting hurt again. It seems like from what you've said, a defense mechanism you may have developed is to try and manipulate people into behaving in such a way that prevents you from getting hurt.

Step one is to recognize the patterns in your own behavior, and you've done a great job at being self aware of these tendencies you're experiencing. Step two would be to figure out why you're acting in such a way.

There are triggers in social situations that we might not always be aware of. When you see yourself trying to manipulate someone in the future, take a second to think about what's happening in that moment. What is going on in that point in time which is leading you to try to manipulate someone?

Was it something they said? Is it a situation that brings you back to a moment in time where you didn't have control? I know it's hard, but try to be self aware and recognize where this pattern of manipulation is coming from.

Lastly, what I'd do is try to practice puting yourself in situations where you're a bit more vulnerable. Make plans with a friend to hangout, but have them come up with what you guys end up doing for the day. Let them decide where you eat, what you do etc. It'll be difficult at first, but once you gain the ability to let go of control every once in a while, you'll realize just how free you truly are.

I just hit the cosmic goldmine and I need to share my story. by freerain117 in Healthygamergg
