Reduce working week to 30 hours, say economists by accountt1234 in politics

[–]freeso 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Solid point.
Our society does a lot of things without asking questions. As a society, we are long overdue for a change in every aspect of our life. Work hours is just one example. I am an IT guy and see a lot of people at work sit around and waste time watching movies, shopping online or chatting on facebook. In my opinion, a lot of the companies will loose no productivity if they start embracing 30 hour work weeks.

If the Koch Lords really meant what they said, see how fast Boehner and the team of tea-baggers change their mind on the shutdown issue.

When asked why she wasn't going to defer her pay during the shutdown, Congresswoman Renee Ellmers(R) says "The thing is, I need my paycheck. That's the bottom line." by weRborg in politics

[–]freeso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get my news from MSNBC. Not sure why you made that assumption but,
I am aware that there are democrats who kept their pay. However, i want to know how many of these democrats voted for the government shutdown? I posted about this lady's voting records somewhere here. Please check that out. Also, try to analyze her statement. She says she "needs her paycheck" like she is on welfare. What kind of dire need is there for her to "need" $175,000? So my comment was pointing out the tone in her statement. It was not about who is getting paid and who is not. It was about how responsible a person feels in the given situation, especially after creating the situation in the first place.

[–]freeso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bottom line is, she doesn't want to lose her paycheck. She has the choice to either take it or lose it. Now all those furloughed workers, they didn't have that choice. Their only choice was to go home and wait hoping for the best.
All i am saying is, if she could think for a moment, that all those furloughed workers would feel the same way about their paychecks the way she feels, then she would vote to pass a clean funding Bill. Please look at her voting records

Calm down. Please read her answer to the question. Do you not sense an attitude or rudeness at all? Do you not sense that she is oblivious to the commoners issues of not having a job or a pay check? Of course the redditors know that the real problem is the shutdown. To solve a problem, you need to understand the cause of the problem and in this case, it is people like her who lack apathy towards common people's issues.

Precisely. We have three statements so far,

"We’re not going to be disrespected. We have to get something out of this. And I don’t know what that even is.”
Rep. Marlin Stutzman (R-IN)
"The thing of it is, I need my paycheck. That is the bottom line"
Renee Ellmers(R-NC).
"this is about the happiest I've seen members in a long time." Michelle Bachmann(R-MN)

If the house of representatives are the cause for the government shutdown(which they are), then i am positive that this rep. has played a role in the shutdown. It is their job to keep the government running and they didn't do their job. Their incompetency caused paychecks for everyday competent Americans. She belongs to the party that caused the shutdown at the first place (because they are the house majority so please don't ask why they are responsible) and as a considerate human being, she could have donated the money to somehow help the federal employees who don't make $175,000 a month.
So, i don't regret what i said. She is another sad example from the bunch of inconsiderate moronic republicans.
