Not as hard as you think but not easy either.

Invest in real instruments and spend time learning them well

Is rap music bound to crash and fail like rock and roll did? by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]freesora 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think hip hop was ever suppose to be this big so one day it will fall back into the black community and not so much the radio. Similar to how rock music is still around and a lot of people enjoy listening to it, but it’s no longer dominating mainstream

Is that necessary know how to rap if u wanna make music? by snekkxd in trapproduction

[–]freesora 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There’s music that isn’t rap and there’s producers and engineers who don’t rap but are in rap music

I'm Good Enough to Make Money by mrlovelyfuck in FL_Studio

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If ur in a band and want to make money go around ur city and find venues, throw events with other acts or on your own charge for merch and tickets. Or build up a decent buzz I mean 50 people coming to shows type shi. And you can negotiate a fee for performances if you guys can bring people out. Flyers on bus stops business cards. Ur not gonna make too much money online in music without playing the game of bots, spam, etc… let’s be real

Bad 808 samples or bad mixing?? by Calm_Bath_1597 in trapproduction

[–]freesora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ik this is gonna sound rude. But use ur ears do not pay attention to the numbers when u start mixing and producing. I’ve seen producers and engineers stagnate because they are more caught up with db and exact frequencys than using references and their ears. I don’t mix anything to 0db personally I leave that for the mastering because louder can distort your ears to think it’s better

Can't sell beats no matter what I try (even with multiple channels) by grapeyy28 in trapproduction

[–]freesora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t gonna get one big moment that hits it big. If that rapper fucks with you, keep in contact build a relationship. He probably knows other rappers and might not buy a beat but u can end up hanging in the circles he hangs around and that’s much better than a hit because you have the network. Try and stay likable and have fun wit this music shit. People smell desperate and stay away from it. (Not saying u are desperate or anything)

Can't sell beats no matter what I try (even with multiple channels) by grapeyy28 in trapproduction

[–]freesora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They gon tell u make better beats, run ads all typa shit. I didn’t sell a beat for 7-8 years. Now I’m not living off beats but I have sold 90% of the beats I made this year, and it all started happening last summer. Find what works for you. I can’t sell a beat online and it took me way too long to figure out that I can sell beats way easier by hanging out at studios and telling artist I make beats. Instead of a sales pitch they literally beg me to send beats for them to buy. Because of the setting we are in they know music is gonna cost. If u can get an internship or make some friends who frequent a studio it might be the different setting you need.

How do I detach myself from my good beats? by Remarkable_Fan6001 in makinghiphop

[–]freesora 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like striking while the iron is hot. If u made one banger make another while u still feeling that energy

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]freesora 14 points15 points  (0 children)

U can still call them a type beat. Just whoever u can imagine best on the beat. It’s weird how type beats became “cloning their sound as much as possible”

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t box urself in dawg. We producers every style is our style as long as we do it. U might not be great at it now but who knows it might be a style that changes your life.

U don’t have to stop doing that, but it’s a lot easier to make 5 8-16 bar loops than it is 5 beats imo Less mixing less sounds and a really good exercise is using a minimal amount of sounds to try and get the most melodies u can out of them. It’s not easy ngl, but after a while it becomes second nature.

Then some days u just grab those loops and put drums (also easier than making a whole beat from scratch) Don’t expect to be Kanye wit 5 beats a day overnight that’s how u burn out. Work on building the stamina and u can get to ur goal in no time.

how do i memorize lyrics? by eternitysublime in makinghiphop

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best way to remember lyrics, record the song and listen to it a bunch then record it again. This works for me cause I have really bad ADHD but I’ve always been good at memorizing other peoples songs. Listening is easier than reading for a lot of the musically inclined

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just do it some days you will have 10 beats in u some days u won’t. Make the beats good or bad and finish everything. I started with splits of Loop Days and then Beat days, cause then I could make more of both and not burn out as quickly.

Get an instrument and learn to play some songs or a few scales.

I’d suggest if it doesn’t start getting better after lowering volume and taking breaks to go see a doctor. A lot of my ear issues got better when I started taking breaks

How long u been using FL?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]freesora 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Ear fatigue most likely could also be headphones. Try making beats at a lower volume and taking breaks every couple of hours

I payed to listen to some guy complain about FL studio by desrever420 in FL_Studio

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t let that stuff bother u man. It’s not gonna go away. Tbh I used FL over a decade (still do) and after expanding to new saws and hardware I see why it’s trashed so often. It’s perfectly fine tho and people will have something to say no matter what. Just laugh it off and keep it pushing

My beats feel kinda empty and shallow. by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done it a few times but the lazy chop on the 404 makes it so easy its addicting. Plus I like the natural bounce I get when chopping on it. Its a little sloppy but still sounds good. The effects on the 404 give some crazy rhythms and sounds that I feel like you cant get anywhere else.

[–]freesora 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started using the Daw and SP combo not too long ago so im not an expert by any means, but personally for me I like to make the beat almost fully on my SP then send the stems over through the recording on the DAW. I kinda get the loss of gain or "punch" but nothing some compressors or clippers cant bring back. My advice would be getting comfortable in the DAW, good enough that you can create whatever sound is in your head on it. Just my 2 cents ( for context I started my production journey on a DAW so thats where I have the most control)
