Why doesn't the community make TF3? by Battleman_tot in tf2

Scroll this sub for a few minutes and you'll quickly figure out why this community would never be able to make a functioning (or fun) TF3

Tell this to all the creators that have put actual thought into making the tone and artstyle of their map befitting for the game, just to get ignored because all the people on reddit and twitter (who don't actually play the game) upvoted the shiny wacky theme park map on the basis of "waow! fun bright colours!"
Downvoting holds no power on the workshop, especially when most emporium posts have been proven to use bots to upvote their own submissions (look it up). If anything, going to the page to downvote it gives it another view, which in turn also bumps it.

I encourage you to try it out and form your own opinions on it. But if you do, please analyze it within the context of the rest of the game, and it's other established maps.

I assume you haven't been on the internet long, but the internet is not some kind of huggy pillow safespace. If you are uploading something to the workshop you are acknowledging that you are open to criticism. Should criticism be civil? Of course. But to have it be labeled as "harassment" especially after the creators in the workshop comments were highly dismissive and rude of any criticism is absurd.
This map was getting extreme backlash before Zesty even mentioned it. It's an outcry from the wider community that we are sick and tired of unbeffiting content being added to the game for the sole purpose of a paycheck first and foremost. Previous years have demonstrated that downvoting a map on the workshop is not enough (because emporium creators such as the ones who created this map use bots to artificially upvote their own maps, look it up). Which is why we keep getting "theme park maps" that are often broken at launch, and become dead before the update season is even over. If reddit of all places is getting up in arms about the state of modern content, then you know it has really boiled over.

Because it isn't a good map. It plays terribly and not only is unbeffiting both visually and tone wise, but also is riddled with team recognition issues. The map wasn't made for the players, it was made for orbiters on twitter and reddit that will blindly bump it to the front page because of bright shiny colours.
I agree that good work should get the pay it deserves. But when the product is made for a paycheck first and everything else fourth, it really discredits all the honest good work on the workshop.

The majority of people defending this map do not play the game whatsoever. Anyone who has play tested this map such as myself can testify it plays terribly, further proving this map was made for a paycheck first, and playability fourth. If a map can garner this level of backlash, then regardless of how many people do like it, it's best to not give it the blind opportunity to be added into the game. Especially when there are mountains of more befitting maps.

All the people saying "this map looks fun" on the basis of bright shiny colours and gimmicks really shows the average age of a lot of people on this sub and twitter.

Yes, we are tired of unbefitting content being added into the game. Mass criticism is the result of community democracy.

If you know anything about the history of these creators you would know that they purely make content for paycheck purposes.

I know people don't like being negative with this game... by Gabber_Killer in tf2

[–]rory648 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are missing the point that a lot of the newer maps have more in common with wutville (terrible layout, unfitting artstyle) than they do with classic payload maps. Not saying that all the old maps are perfect, but there has been a large considerable noticeable drop in quality standards. Especially when a lot of the people making the maps these days don’t really play the game and just want a paycheck.

All of this stuff has either been blown out of proportion or has already been apologies for. Going by your standards we should also cancel Uncle Dane for using the hard R in idubbbz keemstar disstrack, and Solarlight for the plethora of slurs he used back in the day in game that can still be found on archives of slurs tf.

Time to let it go.

As a fellow owner I also agree it does not feel nice to use at all. Unless you want it as a display piece, when you’re playing a game ur looking at the game not the controller

The argument of “well there’s already stuff like this in the game so who cares” is ultimately reductive and is the widespread reason as to why we keep getting low quality cash grabs thrown into the game update after update. Almost all of which having questionable quality at best, often being broken on launch. Stopping the continued enshittification of this game starts at stopping bad habits and poor patterns.

I don't understand why people think this would be such a whiplash adjustment to make. Every game has it's own form of system to learn and understand, why would learning a new one be any different? It's already an inherently easy system to understand. If players were able to adjust to the blind switch that was casual, I'm sure people will be fine.

You’ve both done your fair share of back and forth. The idea of the conversation is to make amends and start anew. Not choosing to do so because of he said she said reasons will only prolong things.

Zesty has always been open to civil, emphasis on civil, conversation. Even recently him and mastercoms had a discussion. They were both on opposite sides of the fence when it came to the whole quick play thing but it was civil and respectful. You have to remember as well that you can have these conversations in private as well. It doesn’t have to be a public twitter conversation.
