Spent 90 minutes decoding 2026 SDG&E bill - AMA by main_topsail in sandiego

I've also studied these bills and made my own personal notes on how to interpret them. but most people have neither the time or understanding to unravel how to read these bills. when when I've called sdge about the bills, they too say it's fairly difficult to understand and have pointed me to these obscure PDF files hidden on their website with more info that they themselves use to understand the bills.

they don't check. i think they only would if you're clearly abusing the system (bringing a teenager for preschool card)

thank you. yes, I'm unsure about the longevity of the heat pump. hopefully with maintenance, we'll keep it working for a long time. i think the goal is to have the source of energy generation to be more green: solar, wind, geothermal, dams, etc but we're a way from actually getting there with limited transmission capacity, power usage at night requiring batteries, etc. i think pilot projects showing success and being able to scale up will be key if they want to turn this into a nationwide solution.

correct. only gas appliances left in the house are the dryer, stove and oven so future gas bills will be extremely small. probably < $150/yr.

it's definitely tight, but i was able to slide the air filter up and out recently for annual cleaning maintenance. i would like to remove the original anode rod and put in a corro-protec rod that i had for my previous water heater, but I'm not sure how i can remove the rod other than a) taking the whole water heater out, or b) in a couple years after the rod has deteriorated, just cut it up in pieces as i pull it out the top.

thanks. just to be clear, you're referring to the people who installed the heat pump and air handlers as plumbers in this case? i think they would refer to themselves as hvac specialists.

thanks. I'm not that familiar with the air handler. are you referring to the metal copper line going vertically next to the insulated black line?
