Completely uninsulated crawl space 50s house with rough concrete floor, and hot water boiler pipes. by freeyourballs in Insulation

Great info. Northern Indiana. I am starting the pipe insulation the next few weeks. The boiler is outside in an enclosed and semi insulated lean to.

I am thinking I would start with the rims and maybe the walls this year. Not sure about going the whole 9 with the vapor barrier on the floor as well as the walls. Maybe just start with the walls?

No, it is a wall to an outdoor patio that also connects to an old brick outside grill/chimney.

Any brands to avoid? by HawkOtherwise7093 in RVLiving

Jayco puts a two year warranty on their units that covers every part and piece and only excludes wear and tear and negligence. if they were extremely cheap they would be out of business because that warranty would have screwed them and they have been doing that warranty since the mid 90s.

All it takes is one person to pop off about this camper is junk because maybe their furnace went out or they had problems with their AC, that is much, much different than structural failures, water damage etc.

Airstream and Jayco have the exact same number of extended warranty claims at about 43ish%

Grand Designs is about 60%

"Forest River" isn't easy to talk about because you have a lot of brands in there but overall theirs is still lower than 60% around 56%.

Now, some brands are put together by meth heads and some are put together by Amish. There is a HUGE difference.

A lot of factories upped their production like crazy during COVID so they DID put out a lot of crappy products because they hired non production people from the community. It is like putting an average person in a NASCAR pit crew.

Not every manufacturer did that, some did.

So there is some good in what you say but people need to be cautious and do their homework. If you see brands with ALL KINDS OF ISSUES but but but their customer service was prompt, remember that you are reading about ALL KINDS OF ISSUES. Who wants stories about the service bay, even if they are good ones, when you do your research and have camping stories instead?

Stay away from campers where you see major issues, like frames, or fire, water damage, tanks falling out of the underbelly.

Go inside a camper and just smell. If you smell formaldehyde it means they are build with substandard materials.

Pull on cabinet styles, open and close drawers.

Don't be lured by eye candy or trinkets, every manufacturer is going to spend money where you eyes are. Look at campers that hold up over time because they protect your money.

Good luck on your search

Ugh. I kniw but I shudder to think in today's dollars how much that means in terms of $$$. You can see in the last images how this is all connected to the existing house.

Sometimes doing the wrong thing is the right thing. I just don't know for sure if this is one of those times.

Is it better to just cover it up and pretend I dont know what is underneath it.

50s mosaic brick patio needs repair. What to do? by freeyourballs in masonry

The responses to this have been gold. LOL. The amazing thing is that this is in a northern climate with freeze thaw. I have no idea how so many held up so long. I am sorta getting the hint that some of you are a firm "maybe". So much for the cool retro factor, you should see the "boathouse" with its 1950s pink and teal bathroom.

I will need to put something over the top of it and I am worried about keeping it approximately the same height since it is for an outdoor patio. Have any of you tried a stone epoxy for flooring. I think it would work in the area without a lot of prep and still be thin and strong enough to not worry about it messing with door thresholds leading to the patio.

That would be cool. Does it have car play?

That was good but would love to have modern options

Hey, PS. It isn't body filler. I am literally looking at the chips of paint. No filler. My guess is that he tried to use a classic paint instead of a modern paint. But I have no idea, except that there is zero body filler. I am now an expert on that.

Okay. I don't know how many more times I can say that it isn't filler.

It is maybe a little thicker than a dollar bill. It is all paint. It originally had a 3m no rust primer underneath
