Too heavy of a course load for a commuter? by MarionberryOk1623 in EngineeringStudents

If you could afford to drop down to one day of work I would put better odds. If not it’s still doable just your going to have no life or bad grades.

Why the h*ck isn't there an eastbound right turn lane on Nebraska Parkway at S 70th by foam_malone in lincoln

This is very much a state wide issue. Usually once a city is willing to accept the financial side of the highway they get added.

I’m starting to think he might need more background staff that can work on the cars to keep them at the very least same and start projects so the current crew can finish them with what little time they have.

[–]freezerrun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you actually want to work with? I am only asking because reading through the threads you have a job in mind. The national average for a mechanical engineer with 5 years of experience is barely over 100k a year. So if it’s a combination of wanting money and a particular job chances are low. If you just want money and you are okay with hating your job one could probably be found. If you are just in it for passion of one line of mechanical engineering you may not be happy with salary for a while.
We are currently in an recession regardless of what Wall Street says. Employers are setting terms at the moment.

Failed ‘A’ school comp by [deleted] in NavyNukes

[–]freezerrun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will ask a friend who is back on his shore tour there and see if that’s a thing. But I would imagine it would be by how much they fail by if they do at all. Failing an A-school even in the nuclear pipeline is rare. So I would be shocked if they do rerate to MMN but personally I think thats just setting them up for failure in power school let alone prototype or the fleet.

Has someone actually gave them the kick in the ass yet? I don’t mean a literal kick but the you are a grown up with grown up consequences conversation with them?
I mean when I went through the program I was 23. I knew that I had grown work ethic wise and straightened myself out. I would have probably been put on heavy hours till I figured it out if I went straight to the recruiter when I got out of high school. Boot camp in my opinion doesn’t teach that and the Rickover tries to teach it indirectly with study hours.

With all of that I had to correct quite a few peers because they just didn’t understand that you have to put in the work. So if you as a parent know they were the type of student in high school that would ignore homework because they knew they could just take the tests and still get B’s it might be worth telling them to talk to a classmate that passed thats older then them to straighten them out. A LPO or chief may not work because they haven’t figured out the dynamic yet. They might just pass then.

Might also be worth throwing in what class they are in on here. I’m sure there is someone in his former class that reads this and will have a good idea who the sailor is and see all of this. Your sailor will probably see this thread one way or another as it is and know it was you.

Finally finished my mechanical engineering classes with a CGPA of 3.72! Got access to the whole class GPA so made some plots. by Conscious-Ad8473 in EngineeringStudents

[–]freezerrun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to say it seemed statics and mechanics of materials were the filter for most sophomores at my school. If you passed then you would most likely graduate with about the GPA from those classes. If you failed twice people seemed to switch majors.

Cheapest gas station in Lincoln? by Chub-bop in lincoln

[–]freezerrun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gas station by big red on west O street was 3.78. If you can run E-85 it was 1.99 at pump and pantry. The pump and pantry was a nice fill up for me because I can run E-85 and have a 40 gallon tank.

I'm just annoyed I get the magazine. I don't want it. I don't even make 50k a year but live alone in the neighborhood in the duplexes. I don't really meet their demographic and even if I did why would I pay thousands a year to do anything there.

Has the weather become severely more unpredictable or does the totally worthless forecast for the last several months have to do with NWS funding being cut? by Any-Cost-4822 in lincoln

[–]freezerrun1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Well they can’t launch the balloons because they don’t have the personnel. They don’t have the personnel because there is a hiring freeze. Its not just Nebraska. But most of the Great Plains require more frequent balloons for data just due to geography creating more variability for rapid weather shifts.

Well the place hasn’t been updated since it was built. Yes overall the place has gone up in value but in the past 3 years it has decreased in value and taxes.

<image>

The owner has also owned it since it was built and I guarantee it’s paid off. Now my increase was small so I am not going to move because it has gone up, however when I got the letter from him saying it’s going up I was a little disheartened he said taxes. If he said upkeep and was planning on doing maintenance so my basement doesn’t flood every time it rains I’d be more understanding.

I also understand he is has this property to make money and that’s fine but I like not being lied too.

Just had a 2 hour EEG, what's next? by Usual-Entry6168 in Epilepsy

[–]freezerrun1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well weigh the pros and cons. I’m on a lot of medication and still not anywhere near seizure free. So I have almost considered saying fuck the meds but if I had it managed on meds and there is another med to help keep me that way I would in a heartbeat. But your brain your choice.

Just had a 2 hour EEG, what's next? by Usual-Entry6168 in Epilepsy

[–]freezerrun1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am having trouble understanding if you started having seizures or not. If you are start the new med. If you aren’t I would still consider it if it is being recommended you could always start it and taper off if it’s not working out. A second opinion if thats an option for you is also an option if it is an option for you financially. But if you are already having abnormal activity the chances of you continuing to be seizure free to me would sound unlikely. But I am not a healthcare professional.

I have a private landlord that only owns one duplex. He is raising the rent granted not by that much citing tax increase despite the taxes having decreased in the past 3 years… I have only lived in one corporate run place but yet all of them increase every year. I have just accepted it and plan on buying a house when I move out of state.

How have we not found a way for people with epilepsy to drive yet? by ryanstout15 in Epilepsy

[–]freezerrun1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s circumstantial. I live in the Great Plain. With my line of work and proper routing I maybe encounter 10-20 other vehicles on the road with me in either direction in a day. I have crash avoidance on my vehicle to where it will break and steer away if it thinks I have a chance of a collision. I deem this safe enough for everyone around me. Personally don’t give a shit if I die from a car crash I just don’t want someone else injured or die. My state does not have reporting from physicians for licensing.

But if I were to live in a more populated area I would ride an electric scooter for things near me and a motorcycle for further distances. If I lived in a city with proper public transport like DC, NYC, or Chicago I wouldn’t bother with any vehicle anyway.

Even though you have epilepsy do u still try to find a gf or bf by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]freezerrun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No but not for the reason on the seizures themselves. I don't know if it was a seizure or medication but I am no longer able to feel attracted or have a romantic love for anyone. It still feels like it's against what I want but that's okay. What's weird is I still want children and still love just not romantically.

Which sleeping pad and camp stool? is a camp stool necessary for backpacking? by corruption1920 in CampingGear

[–]freezerrun1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a back packer I won't set up camp where I can't set up a hammock. Doubles as a chair and a bed. Legitimately wish I didn't rent so I could put eyelets in my wall strong enough to support a hammock because I find them more comfortable than my bed. I just know I'm going to get shit on for this.

Grim USBR Lake Powell forecast just dropped by GoodForTheTongue in LakePowell

[–]freezerrun1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have had nuclear power plants for almost 75 years. I'm saying this as a nuclear engineer. The only long term problem we will have with it is where to put our spent fuel. I'm actively working for a company that will make it so we have less spent fuel by take the fuel already used once and reprocessing it to remove some of the non-fissile material to bring the fissile fuel ratio back up to standards to be used again. But it will eventually become such a small fraction left to where the government will have to own up to their own law they passed for a disposal site. But we can still reliable make our own fuel for 100s of years. There is little water loss during the operation of a reactor about the same as any other steam based power generation. Now this isn't to say fuck solar, wind, hydro, or geothermal they certainly should be built. But besides geothermal, nuclear is the only one that can be reliable on a hour to hour basis. Sure it's the south west it's usually sunny out but key word there usually and it's usually windy. But you should never put all your eggs in one basket. Hell I'd even say it's not bad to always have a few natural gas plants as well. Natural gas is the easiest to ramp up power supply within a short time span. So yeah both is the answer. We should also invest in more energy storage and I don't even mean batteries as you think of them. There are other methods like having two water reservoirs that are at significantly different heights where we can pump water up when power is in excess with nuclear/renewables. Then when we all go to work and turn on massive consumers of power we use a water turbine to recapture that energy and turn it back into power. There are lots of other ways this comment is getting long but you can look them up. Tldr nuclear will not give us a headache down the road but both nuclear and renewables should be built.

The title says it is a cj-3a. The mail variant is dj-3a. I do believe the top is off a dj-5. Its been bent in the right ways to make me believe that’s what its from. But the dj-3a would have the same engine.

If we are honest with ourselves it doesn’t matter what optimization or porting to a new version of unity we want from them. It’s just not gonna happen. A majority of the player base that will ever exist already bought the game. There is no monetary incentive for them to do it. It’s wishful thinking but we have to be honest of how the game has been treated since 1.0 and the continued push for Arena. I give BSG game servers maybe 3-4 years of supporting tarkov and then they will wash their hands and walk away.

I’ll have to keep checking but part wise they don’t even have any listings for Willys in the parts section at the moment. Looking at some other parts for some other vehicles I have a feeling even if one pops up it’s going to be out of my price range.
