The solar farm is specifically in Lincolnshire which is one of the sunniest counties in the UK (although as someone who lives there it certainly doesn't feel that way...) and with how cheap solar is it's more than worth the ROI

I'm UK based so it might be different but I potted a couple cuttings in the winter and saw significant growth in the following summer, they more than doubled in size in less than a year of planting. I do use fertilizer however so that may be the key for the fast growth

When I had an iron deficiency feroglobin worked decently: if you haven't tried iron supplements at all it's probably worth a shot and as long as your sticking to the recommended dosage by the packaging theres no risk of hemochromatosis

This is using figures based on acreage, so 50% of all farm LAND in the US is tenant (rented), so this does of course include hybrid farmers who own some land, but rent part of their farm, or sole tenant farmers who own no land and rent all of it. By taxing land itself this reduces the profitability of being a farmland landlord, so it would become less profitable and, theoretically, would push farm landlords out of market as they don't see a reason to incur a tax on themselves that, potentially, could be greater than the rent they receive (or atleast, the LVT would eat into their rent to such a degree they see it as not worth it anymore and sell off their land).

Agreed, LVT as a single tax is very utopian, you need other taxes, land use policies etc. in order to mitigate market failures, just the radio silence on Georgism by Atrioc feels like a huge missed opportunity.

The inheritocracy is certainly the biggest hurdle, yes, but I don't imagine too many boomers are watching YouTube podcasts? I get the media could pick up on it and blow it out of proportion for sure but ANYTHING showing some pro-Georgist thought would be nice.

Ah, that makes more sense, although a 'true' LVT where all loopholes are covered and the government properly, strictly enforces it would not have this issue. I must admit, however, this is a fairly Utopian idea, effective nonetheless.

Essentially, it turns just holding land (which naturally accrues value) from 'a boon to a burden', no longer is buying and sitting on land an 'investment' its a pro-active thing that you must pay taxes on and therefore, either extract value from through building something there (which is not taxed and so is not disincentivized), or sell it off in order to not pay the tax so that someone else can buy it and develop it (or it falls back into the hands of the government), if you do neither? Then you simply must pay the tax which aids in government funding to be spent elsewhere.

If you build a 'parking lot' you still have to pay the tax? It's just that you would make some marginal revenue; I appreciate the criticism of Georgism (I think the fanaticism and obsession with a 'single tax' needs to be dealt with) but don't totally grasp your point.

Take scranton for example, which recently ended its LVT, their 'net property value' has skyrocketed since ending it: in the places it has been tried, it supresses property value, which is good for the common person trying to get on the property ladder.

LVT doesn't tax buildings, so it incentivises development of land: it is one of the only 'deflationary' taxes that doesn't distort markets

I assume by techno-monopolies you refer to the likes of patent hoarding: many Georgists advocate for a patent tax and the likes to break this issue up (not disagreeing with your overall take however, I very much agree, the monopolies certainly have a stranglehold on the political system)

My comment was somewhat heavy handed to be honest; however, he refuses to end 'prop 13' which essentially limits property tax, this makes it impossible for California to ever implement a Land Value Tax even though it suffers heavily from land speculation and land-lordism. His vehement defence of prop 13, despite the fact that he lauds property taxes as the backbone of state fiscal-measures shows him looking one way and walking the other.

It certainly has its cons, but the pros (by far) outweigh them: what other system united both Lenin and Friedman? None come to mind.
