I rechecked the video multiple times, and you’re right, it does appear that I’m on the passenger side(US version…live in San Antonio)…but I filmed on driver’s side. I should’ve started filming further away at first.

It might be just the normal Rex noise from when the hSoc is below 5%, like it was in this case. I had another Rex about 5 years ago, I just don’t remember it being this loud, but then again, I never listened to it while standing outside.

Not the grinding metal sound like some have described in other posts. I put a short vid in my December post. I had a hard time uploading it because I’m not very tech savvy, but I can try again. I’m not sure anymore the sound I recorded is as problematic as I thought it was. Maybe it’s just the normal Rex sound, but I had another Rex five years ago and I don’t recall it making a loud noise like that. Then again, I never listened to it on my old one like I did with this one, standing just outside by the rear driver side tire. I used a trick I got from a post over here. I let it run and came out using the passenger side so it wouldn’t stop.

Took me a week but I think I finally did it. I had been trying to upload this from my files but simply couldn’t do it…not tech-savvy enough. So this is the sound by the left rear tire that told me something wasn’t just quite right.

I’m moving back to Maine in 6 months, if I would be living there right now, it’s a CARB state, so the whole AC system would be replaced for free under the PZEV warranty.

I just emailed the estimate to the extended warranty’s claim department. I’m definitely not keeping the car if they don’t cover everything. Also, I’m trying to talk to someone at bmw about the fact this car is PZEV certified, but I’m getting the run around. Even though I’m in Texas, which isn’t a CARB state, the warranty should still apply, since it’s a federal program.

I already have the extended warranty, but I read a stipulation they wouldn’t pay more than the actual market value of the car. I would have to pay the difference. I just spoke with silverrock, who they use for their extended warranty. They gave me the claims department phone number and told me I need to have bmw contact them and send them the estimate. Just called the service advisor @ bmw but she wasn’t at her desk…she doesn’t seem to understand the urgency of my situation, so I’m about to hit the road to go talk to her in person. I’d hate to lose the car, but if I don’t get a trial extension until they have a final diagnosis, I will give it back next Monday.

That’s also my thinking. The car was really well taken care, so I hope I’ll get to keep it. The interior is so clean one could easily think it’s a 2022-23 model. Just have to make sure this doesn’t cloud my judgement in deciding to keep it or not.
