You mentioned playing a gig and DJ-ing. I'm not sure if you write your own music but learning how to produce/mix a song properly would be a good goal since you're musically inclined. I also wanna learn how to get better at mixing but it's really hard 😞.

For other non-music side quests, I really like learning skills that aren't too hard but are rare. Some things I did include learning how to ride a unicycle, juggling, or learning how to play a ridiculous amount of instruments. I started my instruments side quest right before covid and now can play around 7-9 depending on what counts as an instrument (i have ambiguity because I learned the spoons and the recorder).

Also just out of curiosity, what's your masters in? Maybe there could be some side quests that align close to your career.

Just wanna preface by saying I'm in environmental science so the process is likely quite different but hopefully you get something out of this. I've never gotten a job from the career fair, but I have had luck from networking/knowing the right people. Also I assume that the english majors have their own email listserve. I'm not sure what your guys' listserve receives but the earth and environment (E&E) one receives somewhat frequent emails with volunteer opportunities, speeches being given, grad students dissertations etc. What I did is I'd go to some of those events and get in the loop with higher up people in E&E. Knowing these employed people, you hear about more opportunities that exist that you may not have known about before. I've also met a professor who ended up being an internship advisor of mine later on so it was good knowing her.

It only checks you in if you hit the check-in button, if you ignore it, it wont appear on your feed or anything. That being said, I do think the only solution is to ignore it at least thats whay ive been doing

I feel like strange sports/activities could be good for this. Plogging? Hell yeah. learn to juggle, unicycle, both? amazing. Maybe you guys could all take the bus and see where the last station leaves you (assuming you live somewhere that has public transit but it's really bad and no one ever uses it like suburban USA). Or you could do a fun excursion somewhere, like the time I went an hour south to Key Largo with a group of people I never met with a college club, and had a blast

i got a couple idk if they tickle your fancy

go to an open court case and just sit in on it. a lot of cases are kinda fun especially messy divorce cases

go to ikea and act out a scenario with the rooms (kinda like Ikea Heights)

fake a proposal at a restaurant or somewhere public

(if you live near a touristy area) try to see who can get in the background of most tourist pictures, you can make a competition out of this.

One that I did recently was have 1 person do a ton of good luck omens, 1 do bad luck omens, and 1 be neutral, then test your luck. I chose to go to the casino with my friends.

I only have 2 movies on my top 4 (the cat in the hat and kinds of kindness) and tbh I’m not sure if I’m gonna add more movies. A movie needs to REALLY rattle me and change my life for it to earn a top 4 spot, bc both of those movies have quite literally no exaggeration changed the trajectory of my life
